Arsenal will have a massive transfer window as they aim to close the gap with Premier League champions Manchester City. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has mainly targeted four positions, including a new right-back, a striker and two midfielders. The most famous is West Ham United captain Declan Rice, all of whom have been targeted by the North London club.

Arsenal are reportedly willing to break their transfer record by paying West Ham 90 million and offering Rice £300,000 a week. Rice is their top priority, but the Gunners will face stiff competition and Manchester City have also made an offer. Arsenal have agreed to buy Chelsea star Kai Havertz for £65 million and will bid £40m for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. Arsenal have also made an offer for Ajax defender Julion Timberer, who is the main transfer target for Manchester United manager Ten Hag, who has coached him at Ajax.

The transfer of Rice and Lavia will actually be a direct replacement for Thomas Patty and Granit Xhaka. Patti has attracted interest from Italy and Saudi Arabia, while Xhaka has struck a deal with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. Cedric Suarez, Rob Holdin and Kieran Tierney could leave this summer, so more transfer fees could be offered and space in Arsenal's salary budget. There are also three Premier League clubs interested in striker Eddie Nketiah.

The clean-up may not end there, Arsenal will listen to offers from the likes of Albert Sambi Loconga, Flarin Balogón, Mohamed Elneni, Nuno Tavares and Nicolás Pepe. Lavia and Rice will form the basis of Arsenal's midfield, with Timberer playing at right-back to challenge Ben White. Willian Saliba and Magalhães will form a centre-back pairing, with goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and left-back Alexander Zinchenko retaining their places. The addition of Kai Havertz is more complicated, as he is likely to rotate the attacking line-up with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, while Martin Odegaard remains behind striker Gabriel Jesus.
