Like the solid aluminum alloy cut out of the chassis, the Z1 Plus has outstanding performance in shock suppression, dust prevention, heat dissipation, noise resistance and other aspects. The interior of the chassis is also equipped with absorbing materials that absorb EMI electromagnetic waves, helping to reduce overall noise. The CPU core of the Z1 Plus is replaced by the newer Intel quad-core CPU J6413, which is faster. The built-in memory has also doubled to 16GB and 32GB compared to the '19 version. NVMe SSD is installed inside, the standard version only has 250GB of system disk, and you can also choose to add a 4TB SSD; The NVMe specification has a transfer speed of 19 times that of the SATA specification used in the 25th edition. On the side of being a server, Z1 Plus can be said to be a comprehensive improvement.
In addition, as a server for music playback, the Rhein Z1 Plus has a built-in high-precision TCXO oscillator to reduce time base errors. It also provides a BNC terminal that can be connected to an external 25MHz clock generator (such as Silent Angel's own Genesis 2.0). It is equipped with two USB 3.1 and one USB 2.0 terminals for external storage devices, a USB 2.0 terminal dedicated to digital audio output to the DAC, and a USB type-C. The USB dedicated to audio is also equipped with Silent Angel's second-generation USB noise reduction technology. Another special thing is that the Z1 Plus comes with two RJ45 network jacks, one for connecting to the network and one for connecting the player.
In terms of playback specifications, Z1 Plus supports PCM 32bit/768kHz, DSD 512, and Silent Angel continues to use the VitOS operating platform, which can support Roon Core, Roon Ready, AirPlay2, Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, Amazon Music HD, DLNA, etc. Whether you rely on an online streaming service, play a local built-in NAS music database, play files from an external storage device, or even AirPlay via iPhone or iPad, the Z1 Plus can handle it.
