According to Reuters, Alphabet warned employees not to share confidential information with AI chatbots because it could be stored by companies that own the technology.
This is very wise advice. It is often unwise to get used to sharing personal or confidential information anywhere on the web.
Anything you can talk to with AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Bing Chat could potentially be used to train these bots because they're built on large language models (LLMs) that have been continuously trained. The companies behind these AI chatbots also store data that may be accessed by their employees.
About Google's AI chatbot Bard: "When you interact with Bard, Google collects the content of your conversation, location, feedback, and usage information. This data helps us provide, improve and develop Google's products, services and machine learning technologies, as detailed in Google's Privacy Policy. ”
Google also said it would select a subset of conversations as a sample and review them by trained reviewers, and the data would be kept for up to three years. Therefore, Google expressly states that it will not contain information that can be used to identify you or others.
In addition, OpenAI also says on its website that AI trainers review ChatGPT conversations to help improve the system and ensure that the content meets their policies and security requirements.
