The so-called Wenchang Ancestral Court is the first temple of the Wenchang Emperor, which means that the temple was first built to worship Wenchang, and it is the root and birthplace of Wenchang culture. Why is the Qiqushan Temple in Zitong County called Wenchang Ancestral Court?
Zitong Qiqushan Temple is the earliest Wenchang temple. "Guangbo Zhi", "Huayang Guozhi" and other ancient books, Wenchang worship began with the worship of natural gods such as thunder gods and tree gods, during Dayu, the ancient ancestors thought that Zishu turned children into gods, so they built temples in Qiqu Mountain to worship, and later, from Qin to Tang gradually evolved into special temples dedicated to Wenchang Emperor "Evil Zi Temple", "Shanban Temple", "Yazi Temple", "Thunder God Temple", after the Tang and Song Dynasties, due to the popular belief of the people and imperial edicts, hundreds of Wenchang Palace temples were gradually built throughout the country and overseas. However, at least before the Jin Dynasty, the only temple of Emperor Wenchang was Zitong Qiqu Mountain.
Judging from the history books, Wenchang originated in Zitong and is inextricably linked with the Great Temple of Qiqu Mountain, and its temple should be the ancestral garden. As far as its Wenchang origin, the Tang and Song dynasties used to be only star gods, not personality gods, called Wenchang Xing, Wenqu Xing, Zitong Xingjun, etc., so the "Shiji Tianguan Shu" contains "Doukui Dai Kuang Six Stars, known as Wenchang Xing". "Ming Shi Lizhi IV": "Emperor Zitong, Ji Yun: 'The god's surname is Zhang Yazi, living in Shu Qiqu Mountain, Shijin died in battle, and people built temples.'" "Here explains the relationship between Zitong God, Zhang Yazi, and Qiqu Mountain Temple, and then successive emperors posthumously named Zitong God, until Yuan Renzong Yanyou three years ago crowned Zitong God Zhang Yazi as "Fuyuan Kaihua Wenchang Silu Hongren Emperor", so far, the star god and man and god are united, and Wenchang Emperor has become the cultural god of the Chinese nation in charge of Wen Yunlu.
Official propaganda and folk beliefs generally believe that Zitong is the birthplace of Wenchang culture, and the Great Temple of Qiqushan is the ancestral garden. First, a large number of books or texts or prefaces such as "Wenchang Emperor Ben Biography", "Wenchang Dadong Immortal Sutra", "Wenchang Xiao Jing", "Wenchang Zhong Jing", "Qing Hanoi Biography", "Wenchang Emperor Junhua Book" and so on have direct and indirect reflections; Second, official books such as "Benji of the King of Shu", "Jin Shu Tianwen Zhi", "Xianfeng County Record" and so on have been recorded; Emperor Taiwu of Northern Wei, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Emperor Yuzong of Tang, Emperor Zhenzong of Song, Emperor Guangzong of Song, Emperor Lizong of Song, and Emperor Renzong of Yuan all had edicts on Wenchang, the Great Temple of Qiqu Mountain. In the tenth year (1140) of Emperor Gaozong of Song, Emperor Gaozong of Song issued an edict that the Great Temple of Qiqu Mountain was rebuilt according to the pattern of the royal palace and given the name Lingying Temple, and in the sixth year of Chongjiaqing of Qingren (1801), Wenchang Chongqing Temple of Qiqushan was included in the national ceremony, and in the sixth year of Xianfeng of Emperor Wenzong of the Qing Dynasty (1856), it was promoted to the middle worship. Third, from the Song Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the belief in Wenchang became more and more extensive, and many places outside Sichuan and its province came to the Wenchang Ancestral Court of the Great Temple of Qiqu Mountain to pay respects and study, and thousands of Wenchang palaces and shrines were gradually built throughout the country, and more than 470 are still preserved. In recent years, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries have come to worship, and the Great Temple of Qiqushan has been called "Ancestral Garden" or "Ancestral Temple" by overseas good men and women.
The Qiqushan Temple is the only Wenchang "ancestral garden" and is widely recognized by the academic community. Since the 80s of last century, scholars from Japan, the United States, South Korea, Germany, and Singapore have successively visited Wenchang Ancestral Court in Qiqushan for academic investigations, and dozens of scholars from Fu Jen University and other universities in Taiwan, Taiwan and the mainland have also visited Zitong and Damiao; In recent years, Wenchang Zuting has held several international, cross-strait and domestic academic seminars, and has achieved a number of academic achievements, and published a number of Wenchang cultural academic papers. Whether it is an individual or an academic discussion, they all agree that Zitong is the birthplace of Wenchang culture, and the Great Temple of Qiqushan is the ancestral court of Wenchang, which is unique and irreplaceable, and there is no place at home or abroad to compete for the status of Wenchang ancestral court.
