He is our protagonist today, and he is also the founding lieutenant general of New China, General Wei Jie. Born in 1914 in Donglan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, General Wei Jie is an outstanding proletarian revolutionary of the Communist Party of China and an incomparably outstanding general of the People's Liberation Army.
Like many founding generals, Wei Jie's family was very poor, so when he was a child, Wei Jie did not go to school, but chose to herd cattle, in addition to cutting grass, cultivating land, etc. It can be said that when he was a child, Wei Jie did experience the tribulations that many poor people in the old society had encountered, and also tasted the humiliation and repression of being exploited by the landlord class.
And Wei Jie began to participate in the revolution because of a person, this person is the leader of the Baise Uprising Wei Baqun, Wei Baqun is an excellent son of the Zhuang people, but also an excellent leader of the peasant movement, when Wei Jie's hometown established a peasant association, it was under such circumstances, Wei Jie chose to join the Peasants' Self-Defense Force regardless of his own body, and since then Wei Jie's revolutionary career has officially begun.
During the Red Army period, Wei Jie successively served as the commander of the reconnaissance company of the Fifth Division of the Red Third Army, the chief of staff of the 223rd Regiment of the 73rd Division of the Red 15th Army, the commander of the regiment, the commander of the cavalry regiment, etc. In the Battle of Loushan Pass, Wei Jie's unit was the vanguard of the main force of my Red Army, and as a result, Wei Jie led his unit to play a very dazzling battle, and in this battle, two divisions and eight regiments of the enemy were annihilated.
In addition, after the qiao crossing of the Jinsha River and the rush to cross the Dadu River, Wei Jie has made great contributions.
In the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Xiangcheng Gulu Ambush Battle was also one of Wei Jie's representative battles, when Wei Jie's unit created a model example of the Eighth Route Army's anti-"sweeping" operation on the plains.
In the Liberation War, Wei Jie also fought extremely bravely in the counterattack against the enemy in northern Henan, and not long after, Wei Jie's troops even attacked Tang Yin and captured the tomb robber warlord Sun Dianying alive.
However, Wei Jie also has a pity, that is, according to his military merits and qualifications, in fact, it is no problem to be awarded the founding general in the 55 years of awarding titles, but unfortunately, in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the 180th Division under Wei Jie suffered heavy losses, which really affected the award of General Wei Jie.
On February 3, 1987, Wei Jie, former deputy commander of the Chengdu Military Region and founding lieutenant general, died in Beijing at the age of 73.
