People often ask us in the clinic if there are any taboos during taking medicine? Speaking of usual, the daily routine diet during the period of taking psychological drugs is not affected. For example, chicken, duck, fish, eggs, and milk can be taken. But there are some caveats worth mentioning here.
・The first one is grapefruit juice. A glass of grapefruit juice may increase the concentration of thiopine by a factor of 2 to 3, and within six hours or so. This effect is the most pronounced because it inhibits the metabolism of thiopine, which may last more than 72 hours.
The second is that people often ask, can I drink alcohol during the period of taking medicine? Remember a strip of taking medicine and not drinking alcohol and saying it usually. If you drive, don't drink, because drinking and taking drugs at the same time, its harm is currently believed not to be the addition of the two, but the multiplication of the two, so the harm may be greater. Some patients themselves have anxiety or emotional control or sleep problems, so do not drink alcohol while taking drugs.
The third is that some people may drink some coffee occasionally while taking lithium carbonate. There is also an interaction between coffee and lithium carbonate, which can make patients more prone to shaking and shaking of their hands. Therefore, if your hands tremble during taking lithium carbonate, you should review whether you have been drinking coffee recently, and avoid drinking coffee at this time.
In addition, the concentration of sodium ions in the body is the salt sodium chloride that is usually eaten, the lower the concentration of sodium, the worse the excretion of lithium carbonate, the more likely it is to have excessive sodium concentration, and it is more likely to have adverse drug reactions such as hand trembling or nausea. Therefore, it is sometimes recommended that patients take lithium carbonate with light saline as much as possible, which can reduce the adverse drug reactions caused by the slow excretion of lithium and lithium dissociation.
