As for the reason, the plug-in hybrid model is slow to charge, and the charging demand is small (less electricity bills), which is not very friendly to the operation (income) of the charging station.
To be clear, such problems are completely autonomous regulations of charging stations and have nothing to do with national policies. However, a reality is that plug-in hybrid models do have the meaning of "targeted" as new energy models, from Beijing's restrictions on plug-in hybrid models, to Shanghai's suspension of free license plates for plug-in hybrid models, and the "green card" role of plug-in hybrid models is getting smaller and smaller.
However, from the perspective of the market, plug-in hybrid models have achieved rapid sales growth with advantages such as no mileage anxiety, low energy consumption, and no purchase tax. At the same time, from the perspective of the layout of car companies, the voice of plug-in hybrid models has gradually risen, including Chery Automobile, Great Wall Motor, Changan Automobile and other enterprises, plug-in hybrid is a major focus of this year's layout.
However, can the "green card" and "green card role" of plug-in hybrid continue?

From November last year to May Day this year, the already tense high-speed service area charging pile occupied by plug-in hybrid models has caused heated discussions, and many netizens even stand in line: plug-in hybrid models can use fuel, and precious charging resources should not be occupied during special periods. (Of course, the wording of netizens is not as "elegant" as the author)
However, for plug-in hybrid vehicle owners, charging or not charging is a two-level fee. Taking the new Internet celebrity model Geely Galaxy L7 as an example, the comprehensive fuel consumption of the pure electric range 115km version of the model is 1.3L/100km, and the fuel consumption of the battery loss is 5.23L/100km, according to the current oil price of nearly 8 yuan, which is economically poor. At the same time, due to the small battery pack and generally long charging time, this also makes plug-in hybrid models less popular with charging stations, as mentioned above "charging stations prohibit plug-in hybrid model charging" incident.
Of course, compared with pure electric models, plug-in hybrid models have no mileage anxiety, and plug-in hybrid models have more silky driving feelings and lower operating costs than fuel vehicles, and can be on the green plate. Therefore, plug-in hybrid models can be regarded as the advantages of integrating trams and oil vehicles, but it is precisely because of this that the "green card" of plug-in hybrid models is not pure enough, and may even become less and less pure.
Although it is a new energy model, plug-in hybrid models are still restricted in Beijing, and they are no different from fuel vehicles in terms of right of way. At the same time, starting this year, Shanghai will no longer issue free "green plates" for plug-in hybrid models, taking off the privileges of plug-in hybrid models in terms of license plates, and such cities already have Beijing and Shanghai, and then they don't know.
Sales of plug-in hybrid models soared, and car companies made heavy bets
In strong contrast to the charging of plug-in hybrid models, which is "not counted" as new energy in Beijing and Shanghai, the market share of plug-in hybrid models is gradually rising. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the sales volume of plug-in hybrid vehicles in mainland China will be 1.518 million units in 2022, with a growth rate of 150%, much higher than the growth rate of pure electric vehicles. In the first four months of this year, NEV production and sales reached 2.291 million units and 2.222 million units, respectively, up 42.8% y/y. Among them, the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 86.7% and 89.2% y/y, respectively. Perhaps it is precisely because of such market changes that car companies have accelerated the layout of plug-in hybrid models this year.
One of the more stark examples is Chery Automobile. According to Chery Automobile, with the blessing of Kunpeng Super Performance Hybrid C-DM, Chery, Xingtu and Jietu brands will be fully hybridized, and by 2024, Chery Group will launch more than 20 C-DM models. You know, Chery has a pure electric technology platform, but it has not let its three major brands "pure electrification".
In fact, not only Chery, many independent brands have accelerated the launch of hybrid models this year, Great Wall Motor has launched Thunder Dragon, Thunder Dragon MAX, New Mocha and other models, including Haval H series, dog brand models are also PHEV; Changan has arranged the intelligent iDD (plug-in hybrid) to the CS75, and its deep blue is also deploying range expansion in addition to pure electricity; Geely even arranged a mix on the Galaxy L7, the beginning of the brand's key product series, Galaxy L7... And even if the joint venture brand, Accord, CR-V, etc., are waiting for the plug-in hybrid version to attack ...
From the perspective of the layout of car companies, plug-in hybrids have the meaning of fully replacing fuel models and launching new models, in terms of products, this year is definitely the outbreak year of plug-in hybrid models, and may not even be less than pure electric vehicles. However, charging is always scolded, and the city "takes the lead" to remove the "green card" of plug-in hybrid models, will it have an impact on their layout?
