TOP1 BYD: 239,000 units, up 109.4% y/y
As the sales champion of domestic passenger car companies, in May, BYD played steadily as always, selling 239,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 109.4%, and from January to May, BYD's cumulative sales have exceeded 996,000 units, becoming the first domestic car company to complete 1 million units.
However, there is still pressure in front of BYD. BYD will achieve its annual target of at least 3 million vehicles in 2023, and as of May, BYD's annual target has achieved only one-third. In the second half of the year, BYD's sales pressure was heavier.
TOP2 FAW-Volkswagen: 144,000 units, down 4.3% y/y
As in March and April, FAW-Volkswagen still ranked second with 144,000 units in May, with sales falling 4.3% y/y in May, and cumulative sales from January to May reached 650,000 units.

According to the sales data released by Changan Automobile, the sales volume of the new energy sector reached 29,288 units, the sales of the CS family reached 33,910 units, the sedan series was 22,216 units, and the UNI series was 18,637 units. From the perspective of specific sales structure, the biggest advantage of Changan Automobile is that it is "not partial to science".
Top 5 Geely Automobile: 120,000 units, up 35% y/y
In recent months, Geely Automobile's sales performance has been remarkable. In May, Geely Automobile's sales exceeded 120,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 35%, marking the fourth consecutive month of both month-on-month growth. From January to May, Geely Automobile's cumulative sales exceeded 550,000 units, which is still 1.1 million units short of its annual target of 1.65 million units.

And this improvement is likely to accelerate. As the most powerful new energy vehicle brand in the new energy vehicle market besides BYD, Tesla sold 78,000 units in China in May, a year-on-year increase of 141.6%. From January to April, Tesla's cumulative sales in China have reached about 380,000 units.
It is worth mentioning that in recent months, Tesla's sales have basically stabilized at more than 70,000 a month, as a new energy vehicle brand with only two domestic models, this achievement should not be underestimated.
Top 10 GAC Toyota: 7.4 units, down 12.2% y/y
Relying mainly on fuel vehicles, GAC Toyota achieved 74,000 units in May, down 12.2% y/y. From January to May, GAC Toyota sold more than 370,000 units.
In 2022, GAC Toyota's cumulative annual sales exceeded 1 million units, and if last year's results are used as a standard, it means that GAC Toyota will have to achieve an average of at least 90,000 units per month to achieve more than last year's results.
