On World Environment Day, OPPO Releases Sustainability Report 2022

Shenzhen, June 5, 2023 – On the occasion of World Environment Day, OPPO officially released its 2022 Sustainability Report. This is the third consecutive year since 2020 that OPPO has released a sustainability report, showing its future planning in the field of sustainable development, as well as its practical achievements in the five major areas of harmonious operation, environmental protection, employee well-being, technology inclusion and ecological inclusion, reaffirming OPPO's commitment to sustainable development as a global corporate citizen.

Technology for all: Make technology work for everyone

Today, OPPO's business has spread to more than 60 countries and regions around the world. In order to better serve global users, OPPO continues to explore cutting-edge technologies. As of March 31, 2023, OPPO filed more than 90,000 patent applications worldwide. According to data published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), OPPO ranked sixth in the world in the number of international patent treaty (PCT) applications in 2022.

In the face of the rapid development of the digital era, OPPO hopes to let more people enjoy the convenience brought by technology with innovative technology. In order to guide minors to develop healthy mobile phone habits, in 2022, OPPO ColorOS 13 launched a "children's space" to prevent children from over-addicted to games. In the simple mode, the mobile phone can display larger icons and fonts, and can also streamline the desktop layout according to the usage habits of the elderly, bringing a more intuitive, convenient and clear user experience, so that the elderly can better enjoy the technological life.

Health is a long-term concern of OPPO, and OPPO hopes to make "health" a way of life through scientific and intelligent monitoring methods. In 2022, OPPO released the first home smart health concept product OHealth H1. Based on OPPO's self-developed technology, OHealth H1 can achieve medical-grade monitoring of six health signs of body temperature, electrocardiogram, heart rate, blood oxygen, cardiopulmonary sound auscultation, and sleep, and provide comprehensive health management and telemedicine services to protect the health of family members.

Environmental protection: Stepping into a green future together

OPPO has always regarded sustainable development and environmental protection as an important strategy for corporate development. Last year, OPPO completed its accounting for greenhouse gases generated by its operations for the first time worldwide, and in February 2023 announced its goal of achieving carbon neutrality in its operations by 2050. From low-carbon production to reducing the carbon footprint of its products, OPPO is moving towards a greener future through technological innovation.

OPPO's low-carbon development path

In 2022, starting from the European market, OPPO will integrate green concepts into mobile phone product packaging by using 100% biodegradable materials and 45% renewable fibers. At the same time, the recycling of e-waste has always been an important part of OPPO's product life cycle management. OPPO has established a product recycling system, carried out trade-in business in domestic and foreign markets, and promoted the recycling and reuse of used mobile phones. In the European Union and other regions, OPPO has joined the "Green Dot" recycling system for waste packaging and cooperated with professional recycling companies. In 2022, OPPO's domestic market recycled 1.08 million mobile phones, recycling products weighing 195 tons, effectively reducing the emission of e-waste and the consumption of resources.

In addition, OPPO has always practiced low-carbon development in the design and operation of industrial parks, office areas and data centers, and driven green operations with the concept of sustainable development. Through energy conservation and emission reduction measures, OPPO's energy conservation and emission reduction projects can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 6,000 tons per year during operation, which is equivalent to the amount of greenhouse gases absorbed by 3,330 square kilometers of forest in a year. Since OPPO Intelligent Cloud (Greater Bay Area) data center was put into use in 2022, 100% of the power generation will be generated using renewable energy, achieving low-carbon operations.

Sustainable development has a long way to go, and we look forward to more ecological partners

Technology inclusion and environmental protection are an important part of OPPO's sustainable development, but OPPO's efforts do not stop there. As a leading global technology company, OPPO has always been committed to establishing a compliant and harmonious operating environment, focusing on the well-being of employees, and actively assuming global corporate citizenship.

In May 2022, OPPO's "Smile Proposal" campaign was launched for the first time, soliciting innovative solutions for the two major topics of "technological accessibility" and "health digital intelligence" from global science and technology innovators and entrepreneurs, and empowering excellent solutions to land.
