The 4.7 MW installation from Chinese company Goldwind also became the first large-scale wind energy installation in Uzbekistan. The turbine has a height of 97 meters and a blade length of 77 meters.

The first phase of the wind farm is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2023. This project is the largest single project in Uzbekistan and even Central Asia, invested by Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, and implemented by PowerChina Shandong Power Construction Third Engineering Co., Ltd. In October 2020, Masdar of the United Arab Emirates won the bid for the construction of the Zaraf Mountain Wind Farm Project. To implement the project, funding came from the International Finance Corporation, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Development Bank and other international lending institutions.

In total, it is planned to install 111 turbines of this class within the framework of the project. Goldwind signed a contract for the supply of equipment with Masdar in October 2022 and began deliveries to Uzbekistan in January 2023.

When completed in 2024, the plant will generate 1.8GWh of electricity annually, meeting the needs of more than 500,000 households. At the same time, the amount of gas consumed was reduced by 540 million cubic meters. 720,000 tons are emitted into the atmosphere each year.

In August 2021, Masdar launched the first commercial solar power plant in Uzbekistan. The company is also implementing a number of other projects, recently winning a tender to build a solar power plant near Guzar, Calsi State.

According to previous reports, Uzbekistan and China have agreed to build 11 power plants with a capacity of 5 GW and an investment of $4.4 billion.
