Surrounded by mountains, full of greenery, on the slopes, under the jungle, orchards are scattered with "small houses", closer you can see bees coming in and out from time to time... Lin Meihu, a bee farmer in Dongyuan Village, Xinning Town, our county, wore a mask and gloves, carefully picked up a hive overflowing with golden honey, found the queen bee, and removed one of its wings. "So that the bees don't fly away." Lin Meihu said.

Wuning: Honey industry brewing sweet business

Dongyuan Village of Xinning Town is surrounded by mountains above 1,000 meters above sea level, lush flowers and trees, four distinct seasons, no high temperature and cold weather, and abundant and sufficient honey sources. In addition, there are successful precedents of villagers breeding bees and rough processed honey sales, which provide excellent conditions for the development of bee breeding and honey processing and sales industries in the village.

In order to develop the honey industry, the "two committees" of Dongyuan Village convened villagers to study and discuss many times, and everyone agreed to explore the development of bee breeding and honey processing and sales industries. Adopt the operation mode of "collective breeding + household aquaculture", that is, combine centralized aquaculture with household decentralized aquaculture, and vigorously develop the honey industry. Lin Meihu raised 120 boxes of honey, harvested 1,800 jin of honey annually, and generated sales revenue of more than 90,000 yuan. "I don't need to spend much time on it every day, and this income is still good." Lin Meihu said.

In recent years, Xinning Town has adhered to the principle of effective protection and scientific utilization, vigorously promoted the standardization, scale and industrialization of the bee industry, combined the protection and development and utilization of bee resources, and achieved remarkable results in the development of the bee industry. Up to now, the town has cultivated 2,722 boxes of bees, with an annual output of more than 500,000 jin of honey and an output value of more than 25 million yuan, and the honey industry has really become the town's sweet business.
