Tang Limei's achievements are quite remarkable, she is China's first female scientist of ocean diving, and she has twice taken the "Snow Dragon" to Antarctica for scientific expeditions.
In 2013, Tang Limei participated in the first application voyage of the "Jiaolong" to explore the Caiwei seamount in the western Pacific Ocean, and it was this exploration that made her the first female scientist in China to carry out ocean diving, and also allowed her to take deeper roots in the field of marine exploration.
The space of the submersible is extremely small, and the space for three scientists is already quite tight, and it is necessary to install a variety of professional equipment. When Tang Limei performed her work, she could basically only kneel half-kneeling in front of the observation window to record.
"Jiaolong" dives for 10 hours each time, can not go to the bathroom in the middle, Tang Limei only eats an egg and biscuits for breakfast, dare not drink a drop of water, and specially hides the water cup before traveling, in order to fight against the physiological instinct to drink water.
The hardship of geological research did not repel Tang Limei's determination to explore the ocean, and she felt that these things were just "small things". When she saw a completely different scenery at the bottom of the sea, and when she saw the lonely researchers in the polar region, Tang Limei felt that everything was worth it.
Tang Limei's persistence comes from the ocean's continuous attraction to her.
Her diary records a poetic underwater world:
"The world is completely dark about 350 meters below the sea, but there are many luminous creatures blinking like stars, the feeling of thousands of trees blooming in the east wind at night, and the stars in the sea are like fireworks blooming in the night sky"
"The fixed creatures at the bottom of the sea are the most amazing, they have roots, grow on the bottom of the sea like flowers, and some are crystal clear and pure, like snow lotus in the Tianshan Mountains."
Because of ocean exploration, Tang Limei seems to have doubled her life. In her life, there is not only the world on land, but also the beautiful world under the sea.
From the deep seabed, she has collected a large number of rock and mineral samples, and has also done a lot of promoting research, and in the position of scientific research teaching, she is passing on this spirit to more students.
On June 8, the "Ocean Open Class" will start, Tang Limei will take everyone to take the "deep-sea sightseeing elevator", from 200 meters under the sea to 10,000 meters under the sea, to see the different wonders of the seabed.
