BYD responded that a fire occurred in the material area of a workshop of the Xi'an factory, there were no casualties, and the fire had been extinguished.

According to the official Weibo of the Xi'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone, the location of the fire was the material area of workshop No. 1 of the BYD Pangguan production base. After the fire broke out, the public security, fire fighting, emergency response and other units of Xi'an High-tech Zone dealt with it on site. At 14:11 on June 1, all the open flames were extinguished, and there were no casualties. At present, the investigation of the specific cause of the fire is ongoing.

According to the data, the Xi'an plant is one of the main factories currently in BYD's production, shouldering the production of popular models such as Qin PLUS DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i.

According to the website of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, the planned annual production capacity of the first and second phases of BYD's Xi'an production base is 300,000 vehicles. With the commissioning of BYD Xi'an Phase III in September 2022, its production capacity has been upgraded again. It is reported that the expansion of the fourth phase of the plant has also begun to be laid out, and the annual production capacity of the Xi'an BYD plant may exceed one million in the future.

BYD's production and sales data showed that its new energy vehicle sales continued to climb, reaching 240,200 units in May, after exceeding 210,000 in April, compared with 114,900 units in the same period last year. In the first five months of this year, BYD's cumulative sales reached 1,002,600 units, a year-on-year increase of 97.63%, and it also became the first new energy vehicle company with sales exceeding one million.

At the results conference on March 29, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu confidently said that BYD's sales target this year will start with 3 million vehicles and strive to double to 3.6 million units. From this point of view, BYD has reached 1/3 of its annual sales target.

Recently, BYD has also been involved with Great Wall Motor.

According to Great Wall Motor's previous statement, on April 11 this year, Great Wall Motor submitted reporting materials to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, reporting that BYD Qin Plus DM-i and Song Plus DM-i vehicles used atmospheric pressure fuel tanks, and their vehicle evaporated pollutant emissions were suspected of not meeting standards. Subsequently, BYD responded that the company's products and related testing met national standards, and said that it opposed any form of unfair competition.

On May 29, BYD responded to related technical issues on the interactive platform of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

BYD responded that the use of atmospheric pressure fuel tank can achieve evaporation emission standards, BYD DM-i is based on the dual motor series-parallel architecture designed based on the electric vehicle platform, which realizes the decoupling (disconnection) of the engine and wheels, the engine can be started flexibly in EV mode, and the fuel vapor can be freely desorbed (extracting the oil vapor in the carbon tank). Coupled with the collaborative strategy of multiple control units and the in-depth study of the characteristics of carbon canisters, BYD has independently developed the fuel vapor emission control technology of atmospheric pressure tanks, which can meet the evaporative emission regulations and standards.

This technology realizes that PHEV will automatically start the engine even if the vehicle is used in EV mode for a long time before the carbon tank is saturated, and the problem can be solved in about 4 minutes, which does not increase fuel consumption or noise, and can also complete fuel vapor desorption, vehicle power generation and engine maintenance, which is both reasonable and legal.
