The 2023 co-optation guide for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the 2023 co-selection guide for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering have been released.

2023 co-optation guide for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

The academician system is an important system established by the party and the state to establish respect for knowledge, respect for talent orientation, and condense outstanding talents to serve the country. Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as academician) is the highest academic title in science and technology established by the state.

In order to do a good job in the co-selection of academicians in 2023, in accordance with the spirit of deepening the reform of the academician system and relevant regulations, the "Guidelines for the Co-election of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2023" was formulated.

1. Discipline direction and quota allocation plan in co-opted fields

In 2023, there will be a total of 79 co-opted academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

(1) Faculty of Mathematics and Physics

1. 4 students in mathematics, including no less than 2 in basic mathematics and no less than 1 in applied mathematics.

2. Eligibility requirements for candidatures

According to the Implementation Measures for the Co-election of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (for Trial Implementation), academician candidates should be Chinese citizens who meet the following basic conditions.

2. Engaged in research in natural science, technical science and engineering science, has made systematic and creative important achievements in the field of science and technology, and made outstanding contributions to China's scientific and technological undertakings or the progress of human civilization.

In order to implement the requirements of deepening the reform of the academician system, optimize the structure of the academician team, and formulate the 2023 co-optation guide for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering according to the national strategic needs and discipline development layout.

The co-selection of academicians adheres to quality first, takes major contributions, academic level and ethical conduct as the criterion, focuses on selecting academicians from scientific researchers who have been fighting in the front line of scientific research and engineering technology for a long time, and tilts towards key fields, emerging disciplines, interdisciplinary disciplines, major national projects, major scientific research tasks and major scientific and technological infrastructure construction urgently needed by the country.

In 2023, the total number of co-opted academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering will not exceed 90, including 10 in the Department of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, 10 in the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering, 10 in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, 10 in the Department of Energy and Mining Engineering, 10 in the Department of Civil, Water Conservancy and Architectural Engineering, 8 in the Department of Environment and Light Textile Engineering, 10 in the Department of Agriculture, 12 in the Department of Medicine and Health (including 2 in traditional Chinese medicine), 6 in special channels, and 4 places in remote western areas (Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia 9 provinces, autonomous regions and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps) more than 20 years of work. At least one place in each faculty is allocated to emerging interdisciplinary fields. The allocation scheme of professional groups of each department will be adjusted according to the valid candidates and the selection situation. III. Eligibility Requirements

Senior engineers, researchers, professors or experts with equivalent titles who have made significant and creative achievements and contributions in engineering science and technology, love the motherland, have a decent academic style, good conduct, and have Chinese nationality may be nominated as candidates.

"Making major and creative achievements and contributions in engineering science and technology" mainly refers to: facing the world's scientific and technological frontier, facing the main economic battlefield, facing the major needs of the country, and facing the people's life and health, the candidate has made major inventions and achievements in the field of engineering science and technology, and has achieved significant application results; or creatively solve key scientific and technological problems and make significant contributions in major projects, major scientific research tasks and major scientific and technological infrastructure construction; Or as a founder and pioneer in important fields of engineering technology. The above includes achievements and contributions in the cultivation of engineering and scientific talents.
