On May 24, Aston Martin officially released the new DB series model DB12, which is the successor to DB11. Less than 48 hours after the actual car was unveiled, the first Aston Martin DB12 was officially sold for $1.6 million at the 2023 amfAR Gala in Cannes, with proceeds from the auction going to charity.
The car was brought to the stage by Eva Longoria and James Marsden, and was attended by many high-profile figures from the world of entertainment, art and fashion. Some of the guests included Queen Latifah, actors Rebel Wilson and Fan Bingbing, as well as models Sarah Sampaio, Bianca Balti, Heidi Krum, Stella Maxwell and Alexandra Ambrosio.
Organisers may have been too conservative in their initial expectations for the car's price, with Aston Martin saying the DB12 would sell for far more than initially estimated. Proceeds from the auction will be used to support the work of the AIDS Research Foundation.
Not only was the supercar the first to be mass-produced for the DB12, Aston Martin Formula 1 drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso also left their own signatures on the bonnet.
Notably, unlike the regular Aston Martin DB12, this car has been upgraded by the Aston Martin Q division with special wing badges and embroidered headrests. Open the door, and on the inside of the sill, you can also see a special nameplate to show the unique identity of the vehicle, which can be said to be unique.
The exterior design of the Aston Martin DB12 continues the elegant and dynamic feel of the DB series, while adding more sporty elements.
The body has sleek lines, a new design at the front, a large grille and sharp LED headlights make the whole car more aggressive. The rear of the car adopts a bilateral four-outlet exhaust layout, which further highlights its sporty performance.
The new car is powered by a 4.0T twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a maximum power of 671 hp and a peak torque of 800 Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new car accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-96km/h) in 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 325km/h.
It is understood that Aston Martin DB12 will begin to be delivered in overseas markets in the third quarter of this year, the specific price has not been officially disclosed, as the first model of $1.6 million, do you think it is worth buying this Martin?
