1. What is cryptorchidism?
Cryptorchidism, also known as testicular undescended, normal testicles gradually descend into the scrotum as they develop, and if the testicles stay in the groin or abdominal cavity, cryptorchidism is formed. The incidence of term male infants is 1-4.6%, and the incidence of preterm infants weighing < 1500 g is 60-70%. In smaller children, the testicles may descend on their own, but the chance of cryptorchidism decline is significantly reduced after 6 months of age.
Second, the classification of cryptorchidism
Cryptorchidism is medically divided into four categories:
1. Intraperitoneal cryptorchidism, the patient's testis is located above the inner ring.
2. Testis in the inguinal canal, the testicle of the patient is between the inner ring and the outer ring.
3. The testicles appear ectopic and deviate from the normal descending path.
4. Sliding testicles, through external force, testicles can be pushed or pulled into the scrotum, and after the external force disappears, it will shrink to the groin.

1. Affect fertility
Under normal conditions, sperm must be produced and developed normally at a temperature of 35 ° C to 35.5 ° C, and the temperature in the body is about 1 ° C -2 ° C higher than in the scrotum, affecting the development of sperm, according to statistics, the fertility rate of bilateral cryptorchidism is significantly reduced compared with normal people.
2. Malignant testicular changes
According to statistics, the incidence of testicular cancer in patients with cryptorchidism is more than 20 times that of normal testicles, and those located in the abdominal cavity have a higher chance of cancer.
3. Testicular injury
Patients with cryptorchidism are prone to injury and testicular damage due to the superficial appearance of cryptorchidism, which will cause obvious pain in mild cases, and if the injury is serious, it will also lead to testicular rupture.
4. Psychological disorders
After children have self-awareness, they will pay attention to their body structure, and when they find that they are different from their friends, there is less "egg" or no "egg", it will produce an inferiority complex and produce psychological disorders.
- Treatment of cryptorchidism
Treatment of cryptorchidism is recommended to begin at 6 months of age, preferably before 12 months of age and at least 18 months of age. Different treatment timing will affect sperm production, hormone secretion, and tumorigenesis in adulthood. Treatment methods are mainly divided into medical treatment and surgical treatment.
1. Drug treatment: HCG is a commonly used drug, due to the inaccurate treatment rate and many complications, it is not recommended as a conventional treatment plan.
2. Surgical treatment: in the past, the traditional open testicular descending fixation was performed for the cryptorchidism that could be palpable in the inguinal area, and laparoscopic exploration surgery was performed for the non-palpable cryptorchidism.
