Yangyang likes to wear beautiful little dresses, and she laughs very cutely. Just looking at the appearance, needless to say, this must be a little girl. But her parents did not dare to determine, because the family was surprised to find that at the age of 3, she had grown "little Tintin".
Yangyang grew up day by day, and "Tintin" grew bigger and bigger. The child's parents anxiously sought medical treatment, but did not get a good solution. With a glimmer of hope, they recently went to Liuzhou People's Hospital for treatment. After understanding the situation, the receiving doctor realized that Yangyang's condition was not simple.
In order to confirm the diagnosis, the hospital immediately initiated multidisciplinary joint treatment. After joint diagnosis and improvement of relevant auxiliary examinations by experts in pediatrics, trauma surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, gynecology, endocrinology and other departments, Yangyang was diagnosed with "46,XX pseudohermaphroditism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia".
Children are "sexually dysplasia," or "DSD" for short. This is a developmental abnormality or mismatch of congenital chromosome, gonadal, and phenotypic sex disorders characterized primarily by abnormalities of the external genitalia (i.e., genital, urogenital, and external genitalia). Clinical manifestations are often cryptorchidism, hypospadias, small penis, small testicles, vaginal atresia, gender ambiguity, abnormal sexual characteristics, etc.
Some newborns are born with blurred external genitalia that make it impossible to distinguish between men and women. Children with dysplastic sex require early diagnosis, and neonates with blurred external genitalia may have underlying conditions that require prompt management, such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Even if there is no risk of needing urgent treatment, each newborn with ambiguous external genitalia should be diagnosed as early as possible and as precisely as possible. Treatment of DSD varies depending on the etiology, including hormone induction and replacement during puberty, and orthopedics.
In order to help Yangyang recover his "real body", the MDT team held many discussions, finally determined the most suitable treatment and follow-up plan for the child, and recently performed surgical treatment on Yangyang. After more than an hour of surgery, the "little Tintin" disappeared, and her vulva returned to its normal female state through plastic surgery.
During the postoperative follow-up, the child's vulva and physiological functions recovered well, because it had complete female gonads and genitals such as ovaries, uterus, and vagina, and could have normal life and have children in adulthood. Yangyang's parents' hanging hearts finally let go.
According to doctors, although abnormal sexual development will kill you for a while, it is too "underestimating the enemy", and a bad thought can affect the child's life. Doctors remind the public that women should have prenatal check-ups on time during pregnancy; After the birth of the child, observation should be done at all ages, pay attention to whether there is external genital malformation at birth, whether there is hypospadias, cryptorchidism, clitoral hypertrophy, vagina, etc.; For children in adolescence and later, parents should know whether there is genital dysplasia, female virilization, primary amenorrhea, male gynecomastia, and occasional severe periodic hematuria in men, so as to facilitate early diagnosis and early treatment.
