Congenital fingers, toes are deformed, but he with a tenacity, diligently practiced to master the maintenance craft. Over the years, he has been enthusiastic about helping his neighbors, joining a non-profit organization to repair assistive devices for people with lower limb disabilities for free.

"The thumb and index finger of my left hand are healthy and flexible, and I am left-handed, which is a blessing in disguise." The cheerfulness and open-mindedness of Li Xing, a party member of the Junmen community in Dongjie Street, has infected many people.

Participate in public welfare maintenance

Customers become friends

On the afternoon of the 26th, the reporter came to the recycling and maintenance borrowing service center of the "Same Person Helping the Disease" love. As soon as I walked to the door, I saw Li Xing half kneeling in front of a wheelchair, disassembling the damaged foot pedals. Skilled and sharp, it is hard to imagine that he, who was born with deformed fingers and toes, could do such a good job of manual work.

"If it's a clock-in to work, I'm sure I'm absent from work every day." Li Xing raised his hand while joking, and several of his more complete fingers were grinding out thick cocoons, covered with deep and shallow cracks.

Since July 2014, Li Xing has joined the agency to engage in public welfare maintenance of wheelchairs, crutches and other assistive devices, and has provided services for thousands of people with lower limb disabilities for more than 6 years. In recent years, they have expanded their service coverage and provided free maintenance of wheelchairs provided in public places such as subway stations.

On the same day, Mr. Yang, a citizen, rode a moped for the disabled and sent the wheelchair for maintenance. "A disabled person like me, who has a lot of pain in his heart, is very relieved." Mr. Yang said.

In daily contact, Li Xing learned that Mr. Yang had many inconveniences in living alone, so he told him what he needed to call at any time. One after another, the two became good friends. Like Mr. Yang, there are many stories of upgrading from customer to friend.

Get help when it's hardest

Give back to the society with love

Li Xing is 42 years old. After graduating from junior high school, he entered society and could not find a stable and decent job due to congenital disability. Li Xing did not give up on himself, but has always maintained a positive and optimistic attitude towards life, he overcame many difficulties to exercise healthy fingers, and learned various maintenance techniques in the process of part-time work.

Li Xing was born shortly after marrying his visually impaired wife, and the family could not make ends meet and was financially strapped. "At that time, I was really desperate, asking the street and the community for help, and soon the minimum guarantee was approved, and I began to have a fixed income every month since 2005." Li Xing said, "To get help in the most difficult times, I also want to help others as much as I can." ”

In the Junmen community where Li Xing lives, there are many empty nest elderly people. Li Xing took the initiative to propose to the community to provide free maintenance services for the neighborhood, and over time the elderly in the community knew him, and when they encountered difficulties, they made a phone call and said hello, and he was always on call.

In 2012, Li Xing became a member of the Communist Party, and in the same year, he took the initiative to apply to the street and the community to cancel his own minimum guarantee. "My daughter went to school, and my odd jobs earned enough to cover the family. There are also more difficult residents who need to pay the minimum guarantee. Li Xing said.

In 2014, Li Xing's wife unfortunately suffered from breast cancer and needed long-term treatment, after which his wife fought cancer for 5 years. Li Xing and her daughter gritted their teeth and insisted, and did not extend their hands to the society again. Since my daughter started junior high school, she used her vacation to work part-time in a restaurant to supplement her family. The year before, after his wife died of illness, Li Xing devoted more time to public welfare services.

It is proud that after 7 years of diligent study and hard work, Li Xing overcame difficulties and became a paper-cutting master. "I don't complain about the hardships in my life, I have the confidence to live a better life with my own hands." Li Xing said.
