On January 23, 1932, Gu Jiegang left Beiping to visit his father in Hangzhou, and stayed in Hangzhou for several months after the "January 28 Incident". Gu Jiegang (1893-1980), formerly known as Zhukun, Zimingjian, was a native of Suzhou, Jiangsu. Gu Chao (1946-2023), daughter of Gu Jiegang, a native of Suzhou, Jiangsu, is a researcher at the Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
