The beauty of nature's biodiversity
At the turn of spring and summer, the Peace Park is full of lush vegetation and flowers. On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity, the Hongkou District Ecology and Environment Bureau organized some families in low-carbon communities such as Guangzhong and Liangcheng to carry out a series of activities on biodiversity "micro-check-in" and June 5th Environment Day in 2023 in Peace Park.
"Let's go!" Under the leadership of young volunteers from the District Ecology and Environment Bureau, the children pasted tigers, giant pandas, sunflowers and other animal and plant motifs, incarnating as part of nature, and started a journey of biodiversity "micro-check-in".
From the Nature Center, the children, accompanied by their parents, followed the footsteps of volunteers and looked for check-in points along the established route. "Do you know what kind of flower this is?" Volunteers threw out interactive questions and answers from time to time, leading the children to watch and think, learn while walking, and laughter along the way.
Come to the ecological island, where the imprints of animal life are collected in a landscape way, the original animal cage gate is preserved, and animal footprints are designed. Whether it's the exquisite flower landscape of the strange scenery or the long winding Chinese corridor, it will make children linger.
Back at the Nature Center, the teacher took the park habitat as the starting point, combined with the simulated habitat and interactive experience installation in the ecological exhibition hall, to introduce the natural geographical characteristics of Shanghai, the knowledge of local animals and plants, and the cultural traditions of fishery and agriculture.
Volunteers from the District Ecology and Environment Bureau also presented an interesting biodiversity science popularization lecture hall, calling on everyone to care for and care for the biodiversity around them and actively practice a green and low-carbon life.
The teacher also introduced the body structure and mimicry of insects in detail based on biodiversity conservation, and led the children to make insect specimens with natural collections such as plants, leaves, and fruits. "I didn't expect that small insects are so important to maintain ecological balance!" The immersive ecological science popularization experience gave everyone a deeper understanding of the current status of biodiversity and the importance of ecological protection.
It is reported that the theme of this year's International Day for Biological Diversity is "From Agreement to Cooperation: Restoring Biodiversity", calling on more people to actively participate in biodiversity conservation and build a green home where man and nature live in harmony.
Hongkou District attaches great importance to biodiversity conservation. In early May this year, the Peace Park Nature Center was officially opened, featuring biodiversity, low-carbon and public participation, building an "ecological museum" on the doorstep of citizens to build, experience and record local biodiversity.
In the next step, Hongkou will continue to promote biodiversity conservation publicity into campuses, communities, and enterprises, and guide the whole society to form an awareness of ecological environmental protection that loves animals, gets close to nature, understands nature, and protects nature. At the same time, adhere to the path of ecological priority and green development, continuously accelerate the improvement of ecological environment quality, promote green transformation and development, and build a more beautiful, livable and sustainable high-quality urban area.
