According to Peng Shuai's report, the Northwest Field Army has suffered 39,092 wounded and 9,980 killed in the past year and a half, and 10,097 people who fled, lost contact, and were captured, for a total of 59,169 people, and 24,000 people returned from wounded.

Hu Zongnan could not be said to be completely incompetent during the Liberation War, and he did cause considerable trouble to Peng Shuai and the Northwest Field Army.
However, the biggest difference between the Plakmen and the Kuomintang army is that the PLA can quickly convert "captive soldiers" in the form of "complaining", and this is something that the Kuomintang army cannot do at all.

No wonder Peng Shuai said proudly in his report that "the main source of troops at present is to rely on Hu Zongnan's troops to defeat Hu Zongnan."
However, unlike the Platon Army, which can quickly replenish "captive soldiers", Chiang Kai-shek repeatedly said in the liberation war that the use of "captive soldiers" was prohibited by the Kuomintang armies.
Why did Chiang Kai-shek ban the use of "captive soldiers"?
This is mainly a tragic lesson, during the Battle of Menglianggu, Zhang Lingfu used the prisoners of war of the Huaye Sixth Column as civilian husbands, and although Chiang Kai-shek warned Zhang Lingfu many times, Zhang Lingfu felt that he did not add the soldiers of the Six Columns to the army, but only let them be civilian husbands, there should be no problem.
As a result, when the sixth column besieged Zhang Lingfu's retreat road to Duozhuang, the 300 six-column "minfu" who were in Duozhuang at that time collectively fought with the Kuomintang army, and under the combination of inside and outside, the sixth column easily blocked Zhang Lingfu's retreat.

Why can the Platon Army quickly transform "captive soldiers", while the Kuomintang army can't?
Just as Peng Shuai said in his report, "In recent years, the various persecutions suffered by the poor and working people in the Jiangdong area have been extremely serious, the soldiers of the Jiang army were arrested by brutal means to become soldiers, the officers were brutally oppressed, life was difficult, and the monthly salary could not buy two boxes of paper cigarettes... The captive soldiers are very easy to accept the propaganda of our army, especially the anti-Kuomintang arresting soldiers to collect grain and sell the country. ”
No matter how you publicize it, soldiers are not anything, everyone will observe, they will watch.
The soldiers of the Kuomintang army could not afford to buy even two packs of paper cigarettes for a month, so who would be at ease to give life to such a unit?
How can the Kuomintang beautify this embarrassing fact to the "captives"?

In the final analysis, the Northwest Field Army was able to defeat Hu Zongnan, and in addition to the fact that Peng Shuai's command really surpassed Hu Zongnan, what was more important was that all kinds of chaos in the Kuomintang area had determined that the morale of the Kuomintang army was low and the army had no will to fight.
