Jin Maofang was born in Jining, Shandong in November 1933. In May 1952, the Xinjiang Military Region recruited a group of female soldiers in Shandong Province. Jin Maofang, who has admired soldiers since childhood, ran from the countryside to the county seat to register, responding to the call of the state to develop and build the Great Northwest. When her parents learned of this, they tried to persuade her to give up, and Jin Maofang firmly said: "I must join the army and join the ranks of the People's Liberation Army!" ”

At that time, Jin Maofang did not even know where Xinjiang was. Ignoring her parents' objections, she and thousands of Shandong female soldiers took the westbound train and became the first generation of female reclamation soldiers in New China. She was 19 years old.
When the vehicle they were riding in arrived at Shihezi, they looked at the Gobi Desert everywhere, "The veterans comforted us and said that if we work hard now, we will be able to live a life of 'upstairs and downstairs, electric lights and telephones' in the future." Jin Maofang recalled.

The organization asked Jin Maofang about her willingness to work, and she did not hesitate to choose to drive a tractor, which is the representative of advanced production tools.
In March 1953, Jin Maofang was assigned to the machine ploughing team to start following the car, driving a Soviet-made "Mortes" tractor, and the joystick needed 12 kilograms of force to pull. She said to herself over and over again: "Jin Maofang, you have to do a good job, otherwise you will be sorry for this military uniform and this tractor." ”
In the decades of working in the machine cultivator team of the rough Stone Hezi General Field, Jin Maofang's technology of driving tractors has become more and more skilled, and has set a record of sowing 120 acres of land in one day, and the first tractor has worked for 7 years but has a workload of 20 years. During the 7 years as the leader of the "Motes" locomotive team, Jin Maofang worked a total of 33,395 hours, completed 258,300 standard mu operations, and saved 52,145 kilograms of fuel, saving more than 80,000 yuan at that time.
In 1959, Jin Maofang gloriously joined the Communist Party of China. In 1962, Jin Maofang was named a "second-class heroic model" by the Corps, and in 1965, he was named one of the "12 Red Flags" of the Corps. Subsequently, Jin Maofang was repeatedly rated as a "model worker" of the autonomous region and the corps. In 2008, the Corps awarded Jin Maofang the honorary title of "Top Ten Gobi Mothers". In 2009, Jin Maofang won the honorary title of the first "Top Ten Outstanding Mothers of Xinjiang" in the autonomous region. In 2019, he won the title of "Most Beautiful Strivers" in the country.
To this day, on one wall of Jin Maofang's living room, there is a work photo of her when she was young, which she took when she first learned tractor driving skills.
Jin Maofang has been in Xinjiang for nearly 70 years, and the tractor that accompanied her for eight or nine years has long since retired honorably and is now collected by the Corps Reclamation Museum.
"I often go to see it and reminisce about the years of reclamation. Someone asked me, do you regret coming to Xinjiang? I, no regrets. Xinjiang is a place that I have struggled all my life and cannot do without in this life. Jin Maofang said.

Liang Jun was born in 1930 in Mingshui County, Heilongjiang Province. From an early age, she was sold by her parents to a landlord family as a child bridesmaid. It was not until after the liberation of Heilongjiang in 1945 that she got rid of the fate of a child bride and began an independent life.
According to Wang Yanbing, the son of the elderly Liang Jun, "My mother went to college in 1947, and once the school organized a viewing of the movie "Hero of the Towel", the protagonist in it was a female tractor driver, and the mother was envious of it. ”
In 1948, the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee held a training course for tractor drivers in Bei'an, and assigned three places to Liang Jun's budding school, and Liang Jun was the first to sign up. When she reported the next day, she found that of the more than seventy students in the class, she was the only girl.
Liang Jun's talent was very high, and he quickly drove the tractor, which made the men admire. Then, her story was reported nationwide, women followed her example, and everyone joined the study of tractor drivers.
