author:Voice of Traditional Chinese Medicine

From the "Implementation Plan for the Revitalization and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine" in February to the "14th Five-Year Plan" for the Implementation of the Chinese Medicine Culture Promotion Project in April, in order to support the inheritance and innovative development of Chinese medicine, the State Council, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other units have successively issued heavy documents.

These documents have pointed out the development direction for the promotion of Chinese medicine culture and the modernization of Chinese medicine. How can these directions be better understood and followed? Recently, Zhang Boli, deputy to the National People's Congress, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, honorary president of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and honorary president of Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine, expressed his views.

Interview with Academician Zhang Boli by the People's Political Consultative Conference Daily: inheritance, innovation and development of Chinese medicine

Q: You have been putting a lot of effort into inheriting and promoting Chinese medicine culture and developing the cause of Chinese medicine. How do you understand the importance of Chinese medicine in the excellent traditional Chinese culture?

Zhang Boli: Traditional Chinese medicine has an irreplaceable position in the excellent traditional Chinese culture, which is not only reflected in its medical value of "simplicity, convenience, honesty and testing", but also reflected in its profound cultural value.

TCM is rooted in the excellent traditional Chinese culture in terms of concept, adhering to the core values of the excellent traditional Chinese culture such as "the unity of heaven and man" and "Taoism and nature". The medical ethics of "benevolence" and "propriety" in Confucian culture, the way of thinking of dialectical treatment also contains the profound philosophical thoughts of the Chinese nation, which not only reveals the law of human life, but also reflects the unique way of thinking of the Chinese nation and profoundly embodies the philosophical concepts continuously inherited by Chinese culture.

Traditional Chinese medicine is the treasure of the Chinese nation and the key to opening the treasure house of Chinese civilization, and Chinese medicine culture has long been integrated into the daily life of the public and has become an important part of Chinese cultural self-confidence. It can be said that Chinese medicine culture is the essence of Chinese civilization. To carry forward the cultural self-confidence of Chinese medicine is to carry forward the cultural self-confidence of the Chinese nation.

Q: In recent years, you have been calling for Chinese medicine culture to be introduced into schools, and suggested that Chinese medicine culture knowledge be included in the curriculum of primary and secondary schools. In your opinion, how can the introduction of Chinese medicine culture into schools be in line with the current education system? How to make primary and secondary school students really like Chinese medicine?

Zhang Boli: In recent years, many departments of the State Council have successively issued documents proposing to incorporate the basic knowledge of Chinese medicine into the traditional culture and physiological hygiene curriculum of primary and secondary schools. These programmatic documents also emphasize the integration of traditional Chinese medicine culture, a typical representative of China's excellent traditional culture, into the basic education of primary and secondary schools. The implantation and inheritance of Chinese medicine cultural genes should start from the doll, so I recommend that the cultural knowledge of Chinese medicine be included in the curriculum of primary and secondary schools.

Specifically, relevant departments can organize the compilation of simple and easy-to-understand Chinese medicine textbooks for primary and secondary school students, and build a Chinese medicine culture curriculum system that students can understand, have characteristics and emphasize experience in various forms; Organize experts in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, set up a group of consultants and lecturers on the campus of Chinese medicine culture, and provide strong professional support and technical guidance for the introduction of Chinese medicine culture into the campus; Carry out Chinese medicine experience activities inside and outside the classroom, encourage the establishment of Chinese medicine characteristic classes, interest groups and clubs, and combine students' hobbies and strengths with Chinese medicine culture.

Q: Promoting the overseas dissemination and exchange of Chinese medicine culture and enhancing the international influence of Chinese medicine are also important contents of the "14th Five-Year Plan" Chinese Medicine Culture Promotion Project Implementation Plan. In your opinion, what are the main aspects to enhance the international influence of Chinese medicine?

Zhang Boli: First, we should respect the historical status of Chinese medicine and further strengthen the cultural self-confidence of Chinese medicine.

Second, strengthen cultural exchanges. There are great differences between Chinese and Western cultures, which requires us to tell the story of Chinese medicine in modern language, so that people around the world can understand the charm of Chinese medicine and obtain recognition.

Third, it is also necessary to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese medicine. Clinicians and researchers need to further strengthen high-quality clinical research, keep pace with the times, improve service efficiency and level, so that "Wangwen Qianche" can have reliable modern scientific and technological support, and "Lifa prescription medicine" can be verified by scientific data; It is also necessary to improve the quality of Chinese medicine, and at the same time coordinate with the government to create a good policy environment for Chinese medicine to go global.

Q: You once said that your lifelong pursuit is to realize the modernization of Chinese medicine, which is also the key plan of the Implementation Plan for Major Projects for the Revitalization and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine. At present, cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet, artificial intelligence, and big data are widely used in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, how to achieve the integration and development of modern technology and traditional Chinese medicine?

Zhang Boli: In such an era of accumulative, interactive and diversified Internet communication, the wide application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, telemedicine and big data has injected new vitality and vitality into the cause of traditional Chinese medicine, and played an important role in promoting the further development of traditional Chinese medicine research.

In the Internet era, Chinese medicine is no longer a mysterious and obscure concept in the minds of the people, but a warm and interesting article picture, a series of in-depth and intelligent videos, and gradually become a hot topic for all ages. With the help of the multi-level and strong voice dissemination of the Internet, the cultural self-confidence of the broad masses of the people has been enhanced.

In clinical terms, online ward rounds and consultations have improved the work efficiency of medical staff; The coverage of remote consultation, intelligent assisted diagnosis, electronic prescription, and online drug purchase is expanding; The Chinese medicine Internet industry chain of "preventive treatment + dialectical treatment" is taking shape, and the service system that follows the development law of traditional Chinese medicine and conforms to the characteristics of modern disease diagnosis and treatment is gradually improving.

Q: The Implementation Plan for Major Projects for the Revitalization and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine also mentions the inheritance, innovation and modernization project of traditional Chinese medicine, in your opinion, how to integrate multidisciplinary resources across fields and industries to realize the construction of a scientific and technological innovation platform for traditional Chinese medicine?

Zhang Boli: It is necessary to promote the cross-integration of traditional Chinese medicine and multidisciplinarity. From the aspect of education, we should pay attention to consciously establishing Chinese medicine thinking in clinical practice, promote the cross-disciplinary joint research of Chinese medicine and multidisciplinary from the technical side, and also pay attention to interpreting the principles of Chinese medicine with modern science to promote the modernization of Chinese medicine.

Take the research on key technologies and equipment of traditional Chinese medicine as an example. In recent years, some research institutions have made some breakthroughs in equipment, such as the high-throughput preparation equipment for components (Haihe No. 1) and multi-dimensional high-throughput screening equipment for active components (Haihe No. 2) developed by the State Key Laboratory of Component Chinese Medicine and the Haihe Laboratory of Modern Chinese Medicine, and the team of Guangdong New Huangpu Joint Innovation Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed "flexible sensor array TCM pulse diagnosis instrument" and "open environment tongue auxiliary diagnosis system". These are the innovations and explorations of TCM diagnosis and treatment models, and if they are more perfect in the future, they will have high practical value and prospects.

There are still many bottlenecks in the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine that need to be broken through, and at this year's "two sessions", I proposed to accelerate the use of information technology according to the needs of new industries and scientific and technological development, and realize the upgrading of traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing technology. This kind of research still needs to continue to improve the support of clinical evidence and more hardware and software updates and iterations, which not only requires policy support, the encouragement and promotion of governments at all levels, but also requires more researchers to focus on this field.
