Mark Treyger, a city councillor representing the Chinese-populated Coney Island in Brooklyn, Bath Beach and parts of the Pennson Market district, announced that he will launch a new package of quality-of-life services in his constituency, focusing on street cleaning and beautification of bustling commercial corridors.

It is reported that Tremark secured an additional $280,000 from the City Council for a cleanup plan for the southern region of Brooklyn. In this regard, he said that this is a huge news for the quality of life of the local community and believes that important services will be provided for the elderly and the disabled.

According to Mr. Tremark's idea, the new funds will be used to focus on cleaning several commercial corridors in the constituency that are often complained about each week, including the sections of Mermaid Ave from West 23rd Street to West 29th Street, 86th Avenue to 26th Avenue on 86th Avenue, between 86th and 64th Streets on 18th Avenue, between McDonald Avenue and 86th Street on U Avenue, between McDonald Avenue and Stryker St on X Avenue, and between Kings Highway) from McDonald's Avenue to Stillwell Ave.

Cleaning services for these sections will be carried out in cooperation with community groups and transitional work organizations. To this end, Tremmark will provide a cleaning fee of $155,000 to the local contracted Wildcat service company. The company will also provide graffiti removal, on-site cleaning and e-waste collection, and snow shoveling services for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Another $45,000 will be allocated to the Municipal Cleaning Bureau, who will increase the collection of trash cans on 86Th Street by two days to seven days a week; the Coney Island Alliance will receive $40,000 for supplementary cleaning services and graffiti removal and beautification efforts; and $30,000 will be used by a local employment center to clean Neptune Ave on Connie Island.

In addition, a $30,000 grant from the "A Greener NYC" program and $10,000 from Tremark's funds will be donated to the King's Highway Beautification Association to complete streetscape improvements, gardening services, graffiti removal and power cleaning along king's highway and U Avenue.

Tremark said he has been committed throughout his tenure to helping clean up areas in critical need of maintenance in his constituency, and that everyone should live and work in a safe, clean community. To that end, he also encouraged voters to contact the area where his office reported the problem, which is 718-307-7151, or email the [email protected].
