It is known as the "Queen of Butterflies" with a golden-spotted beaked butterfly.
Previously, two artificially bred golden-beaked butterflies in Jinggangshan National Nature Reserve were released in the wild, which was the first time in China.
On October 8, "Jiulian Mountain Butterfly Culture Science Popularization Video" won the third prize in the "Science Popularization China" 2020 National Forestry and Grassland Science Popularization Micro-video Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. This video introduces the corresponding butterfly culture, morphological characteristics and geographical distribution of the golden-beaked butterfly.
"Queen of Butterflies"
The golden-spotted beaked phoenix butterfly is the only butterfly national first-class protected animal in China.

The golden-spotted beaked butterfly is about 30 mm long, the two wings spread about 90 mm, there is a golden-green curved band on the forewing, two large golden yellow spots on the hindwings, the outer edge of the hindwings are toothed, there are emerald green crescent-shaped spots, and there are corresponding golden spots on the inside of the markings. The caudal form protrudes elongated, with a small section of golden yellow at the end.
China's no. 1 specimen of the golden-spotted beaked butterfly
In 1980, the Wuyishan Forest Pest Survey Team caught a brightly colored butterfly in the Jiangxi Wuyishan Nature Reserve approved for construction. Identified by butterfly experts as a male golden-spotted beaked butterfly. This specimen became the first specimen of the golden-spotted beaked butterfly in China, and is now treasured in the Herbarium of the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The number of females and males is very different, and the ratio is about 1:50 to 200, so female butterflies are more rare. Some people have spared no expense to buy the golden-spotted beaked butterfly, which has stimulated profiteers to hunt and harvest indiscriminately, posing a great threat to the survival of the butterfly.
The number of golden-beaked butterflies in the wild is even smaller than that of giant pandas, and a total of 5 geographical subspecies have been identified, including the nominate subspecies of golden-spotted beaked butterflies distributed in Jiulian Mountains, Jiangxi. With its diverse natural vegetation and superior ecological environment, Jiulian Mountain in Jiangxi is an important base for China to study the living environment and life history of the golden-spotted beaked butterfly and save this endangered species.
