A nearby security guard said that at about 7 o'clock on the same day, when he came to work, he found that the color of the river was somewhat abnormal, and it became more and more obvious at noon. Ms. Song, a sanitation worker, said she saw red water flowing from a tributary of the Namming River, but she didn't know exactly where it started to turn red.
At about 12:30, the reporter walked from Jiaxiulou along the Nanming River to the direction of Guanzhou Bridge, and the river was gradually changing from brick red to its original color. Some citizens used mineral water bottles to sample the river water and found that there were some red worms in the water body, suspecting that the river water turned red or related to this.
"There have always been red worms, but the river has never been so 'red' before." There are also members of the public who suspect that water bodies may be contaminated by other pollutants. Guizhou University's fisheries major also said that although it is the breeding period of red worms, it is not easy to appear due to the natural activities of red worms.
The relevant person in charge of the Nanming River Water Environment Comprehensive Improvement Project Headquarters introduced yesterday that after finding that the river water was abnormal, they immediately organized personnel to investigate, initially identified the red river water or the upper reaches of the West River in the source city, and did not rule out the possibility of industrial pollution, and the specific reasons they were coordinating with the relevant departments to investigate.
The reporter learned from Guiyang Beikong Water Co., Ltd. that the section of the river where the anomaly occurred is not the water source, and the two are far apart, and after continuous testing of the city's tap water, no abnormality was found.
