On September 27, the Fisheries Administration Section of the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of the Xinjian District of Nanchang City seized a Sulcata tortoise that had been illegally raised and rescued and sheltered the tortoise.
It is understood that the Sulcata tortoise is a turtle reptile living in the arid areas of Africa, very strong and active, like to dig cave dwellings, mainly to succulents, grasses, cacti, vegetables and other plants for food, body length can reach 80 cm, weight up to 100 kg, life span can reach 80-100 years, is the world's third largest tortoise, is also the largest tortoise on the African continent, is listed in the "IUCN Red List of Endangered Species" vulnerable, "Washington Convention" appendix level II protected animals.
In order to properly place this Sulcata tortoise, the fishery and fishery administration department communicated with Nanchang Sunac Sea World, considering that there is a good animal living environment in the museum, a professional animal conservation team, and later can also popularize science publicity according to the situation to improve citizens' awareness of animal protection. On September 28, the Fisheries and Fisheries Administration decided to donate the tortoise to Nanchang Sunac Sea World. After the tortoise arrived at its new home, it quickly adapted to the environment, leaned out to find food, and under the careful care of the staff, its physical condition has been restored.

The Fisheries and Fisheries Administration Department reminds that non-professional farms cannot raise Sulcata tortoises and other precious and endangered wild animals without the approval of the relevant administrative departments, otherwise they may violate the law and need to bear legal responsibility. Every citizen should consciously and strictly abide by the law and prohibit the illegal sale of rare and endangered wild animals.
