On June 26, the owner Gao mou saw the video of the parrot on the Internet and thought it was funny, so he met Zhang Mou, who sold parrots, through WeChat, and bought two parrots for 600 yuan in a community in Tianning District on the same day. After the parrot arrived home, Gao's neighbor told him that this was a protected animal that could not be raised, and Gao was worried that he would raise a nationally protected animal against the law, and the next day he took two parrots to the police station.

After identification, the two parrots were "green-cheeked cone-tailed parrots", both of which belonged to endangered wild animals, and the police immediately launched an investigation. On July 18, the police handling the case identified and arrested Zhang Mou, who was suspected of illegally selling precious and endangered wild animals, through Gao's photo identification. According to Zhang Mou' account, at the end of 2018, he exchanged these two "green-cheeked cone-tailed parrots" with netizens with his four "violet" parrots, and also inquired on the Internet, knowing that this is a protected animal, and this year, because he did not want to raise it, he wanted to sell it for some money to spend. At present, Zhang Mou has been taken criminal compulsory measures by the police for illegally selling precious and endangered wild animals.

The police also remind pet lovers that before choosing and purchasing pets, they must do their homework, and all wild animals listed in the list of first- and second-level protected animals cannot be bought and bred casually. Moreover, raising wild animals requires a certain degree of professional knowledge, and simple and casual breeding not only squanders money, but also brings fatal harm to animals. In addition, once the public finds unknown wild animals, they should also call the police for help in time, and do not contact or arrest them at close range, so as to avoid incidents of animal injuries.
