In the long-term observation of pigeon racing people, trying to find the characteristics of a certain strain of feathers on the appearance of the pigeons, after continuous observation and statistics, it was found that there was the first row of pigeons of equal length with small compound feathers under the armpits, and their flight speed was relatively fast. With the oral transmission of this secret among fanciers, everyone gradually became aware of this phenomenon that was not taken seriously. That is, when someone watches someone open their wings and looks at it in reverse, they know it, but they don't know why it is so.
So are there any other secrets to spreading the wings and watching the wings? Tell you today, there is! I will only talk about one of these phenomena here, and as for the rest, that is what will happen later.
This characteristic phenomenon is still under the armpits of the pigeons, right next to the last column of the double feathers. In that column, from the last small compound feather to the main wing, about the beginning of the third small compound feather, some pigeons will produce faint spots, this spot phenomenon is either at the end of the small compound feather, some are in the middle of the small compound feather, some are the whole small feather is pale black (rare), some one, some two, some three. After years of observation: the racing pigeons with this small compound feather characteristic have the same flight speed orientation ability as the racing pigeons of the length of three or four small feathers in the first row of compound feathers (this is also one of the secrets that some masters do not want to disclose).
This phenomenon is known in the Taiwanese pigeon world as nest spots (axillary spots or superban: meaning fast), and the probability of its effect on pigeon speed after its appearance is still observed. Some say it is a characteristic of the strain, just as some European fanciers call the "gray three lines" that appear on the back of the wings of grey racing pigeons as the "gray three lines" that mark the characteristics of a certain strain.
For whether it is a strain problem, I have also observed the occurrence of this phenomenon for many years, which has been traced back to more than a dozen pairs of ancestors (grandparents), parents, and peaceful generations of multiple speed pigeons, a large part of the ancestral and previous generations accounting for 85% of the statistics do not have this phenomenon, and the occurrence of ordinary generations is also rare, only a small part has a generational genetic phenomenon, but most of the hybrid pigeons have more of this phenomenon. So is this a phenomenon: the mutation caused by the hybridization of genes on both sides in the process of recombination and then combined into a better flight trait factor? The probability of this happening in pigeon racing is low at present, but it is better to explain this phenomenon as a good gene dominant trait.
This phenomenon is found in spotted pigeons, gray pigeons, red pigeons, and coffee-colored pigeons, which are especially prominent in some excellent strains like small compound feathers.
But like the theory of identifying fundus, it only reveals a probability of flight speed, which is also affected by the health of the pigeons themselves.
In the hybrid pigeons, attention should be paid to the young birds who have this phenomenon, and usually have a good performance. If your racing or breeding pigeon has both of these characteristics, the other surface conditions are good, and it is better to keep the breeding if you know the flying characteristics of the previous generation!
