It is a pest characteristic of the larvae that eat leaves, and in severe cases, only leaf veins remain, and it is also harmful to flowers and fruits.

The occurrence law occurs in North China and East China, with 2 to 3 generations per year, and pupae overwinter in the soil. It feathers in March and April of the following spring, and is more severely affected by the second generation of larvae in August and September. Adult insects have phototropism, 3 to 4 days after feathering began to lay eggs, the block is produced on the back of the leaf, each piece of dozens to more than 100 grains, each female can produce more than 400 grains, after 5 to 6 days of incubation, the first larvae cluster as a pest, after 3 years of age began to disperse, frightened with suspended animation habits. The second generation of mature larvae begins in September and migrates to ditch slopes, roadsides and other places to pupate for wintering.

Prevention and control measures

(1) Use insect trap lamps to trap adult insects.

(2) Spray 0.2% picrinolin emulsion l000 times liquid at the peak of spawning or larval incubation.

(3) Spray 90% crystalline dimethoate 800 times liquid, or 5% cypermethrin emulsion 1500 times liquid, or 2.5% cypermethrin 3000 times liquid, or 20% cypermethrin emulsion 3000 times liquid, or 5% lice mite urea emulsion 1000 times liquid.
