Fall Guys: The Ultimate Knockout will launch next Wednesday, May 10. There have been rumors that players can create their own map editors to join the game in the new season, but this news has been officially confirmed. In a tool called Creative Mode, in addition to creating their own levels, players can also share them with other players.
Creative mode is available directly in the game, and developer Mediatonic demonstrated it in a live demo. Officially, at launch, players can use existing and new themes in Fall Guys to build competition levels. In the future, the mode will also add additional themes, turn types, obstacles, soundtrack options, and more.
Level makers need to select the type of round match and theme of the match, and then call up a detailed category of placeable items, such as obstacles and decorations, in the new build view. The builder looks powerful, with all items spinning, snapping on each other, and multiple selection and copy-paste capabilities. Mediatonic says "most" items have adjustable attributes, including color, number of doors on the wall, orientation of the belt, and more.
However, players can't create levels without limits. Each level will have a "budget" and each item will have a corresponding "cost". At the same time, each level must have a start, an end, and a checkpoint.
After completing the build, players need to complete their own levels themselves before they can publish them. Once published, players will receive a corresponding level code that can be sent to other players to share.
According to Mediatonic, this creative mode is the same model that studios currently use to create official levels, and it greatly improves the efficiency of studios in making new levels. Season 4 will therefore also feature 50 new official levels throughout the Season, with a selection of the best player-designed levels selected and added each week.
In addition to Creative Mode, Season 4 has added a new "Digital" theme, inspired by the "Steam Wave" style, and will add a new obstacle called "Boom Blaster".
