Relying on the ancient Tibetan chicken, Tibet Lazi found a way out of poverty

The ancestor of the domestic chicken is the red original chicken, and the Tibetan chicken unique to Tibet evolved from the red original chicken and carries ancient genes. Lazi County, Shigatse City, is one of the core areas for the breeding and breeding of Tibetan chickens, and Lazi regards the Tibetan chicken breeding industry as a key project in poverty alleviation. Last year, the 36 cooperative branches that have been put into operation have established an interest linkage mechanism with 486 poor households, achieving an average dividend of more than 2,500 yuan per household.

As a type of seed source agriculture, the key to the Tibetan chicken breeding industry is whether the Tibetan chickens provided to farmers can produce eggs stably. If egg production is less than expected, farmers' interests are damaged and farmers' enthusiasm for participating in cooperatives is easily lost. To this end, the Shanghai Yangpu District Tibet Aid Group assisted in solving the funds for the construction of the Tibetan chicken breeding and incubation base, and the first and second phases of the base were completed in 2018. The base staff selected excellent breeding chickens from various villages, combined free range breeding and centralized breeding in the base, and the eggs obtained entered the incubation room with a constant temperature of 38.5 °C, and then entered the brooding room. Finally, the laying hens obtained through standardized breeding are delivered to farmers.

Since the Tibetan chicken breeding and incubation base was put into production, more than 60,000 Tibetan chickens have been hatched and bred, effectively solving problems such as brooding and breeding, and improving the efficiency of Tibetan chicken breeding. The tibetan eggs harvested by farmers are purchased through order-based purchases, and then the relevant market players solve the sales problem.
