Celestial caterpillar
The canopy caterpillar, Malacosoma neustria testacea Motsch, is a larvae of the genus Tianmu caterpillar in the family Pterophoridae, and is called a canopy caterpillar because of the large cocoon woven from the silk it spits out, much like a tent. Brightly colored and hairy, the caterpillars are very active, like to eat the leaves of broad-leaved trees, and tend to become pests. In the United States, the only few moths whose larvae are canopy caterpillars, the most common and destructive of these larvae are the Eastern canopy caterpillars.
