Eastern European countries, in fact, since ancient times, have not formed their own independent political style, have not produced outstanding politicians, and have always been the masters of "milk is mother". When the Mongol iron horse swept across Europe, Eastern European countries felt that they had meat to eat, so they became part of the Mongol Khanate.
When the Soviet Union became strong, Eastern European countries felt that following communism could make a beautiful life. When the Soviet Union declined, Eastern European countries felt that communism was not as good as they thought, so they wanted to "turn to another master" and then turned to the West.
From these historical processes, it can be seen that Eastern European countries have not formed their own political independence at all, but are only the masters of "wall grass and running with the wind", and this distinctive political style is most clearly expressed in Lithuania as a country.
Why is it only Lithuania, because among the three Baltic countries, there is Lithuania. Because of the small national strength, between the Eurasian continent, Lithuania's national idea is dependent, and only dependent on strong countries, like parasites. Take the current situation, as long as the United States is strong, Lithuania will fall to the United States, and if the United States is not strong one day, then Lithuania will not necessarily listen to the United States, just like it did with the Soviet Union.
Knowing this national-level character of Lithuania will give us a fuller understanding of Lithuania's decision-making in dealing with Sino-US relations. That is the reason why Lithuania has done so much on the Taiwan Strait issue, completely fallen out with the mainland, does not pursue the "one-China" international consensus, supports the Taiwan authorities, and sets up an "office in Taiwan."
However, it is clear that this behavior of the Lithuanian state only sees the small profit in front of the fly, and ignores the long-term decision of the country's development, so the debt crisis appears. It is reported that Lithuania's national external debt has reached 47 billion US dollars, which has accounted for 80% of its GDP, that is, most of Lithuania's national income must be used to pay external debt.
You know, the limit of foreign debt set by the EU is 60%, Lithuania has far exceeded, if no measures are taken, then the old debt rolls over the new debt, the bigger and bigger, and the bankruptcy of the country is not far away. There are three main reasons for this situation.
First, the three-year global new crown epidemic parade is not a small blow to Lithuania, which relies heavily on import and export trade, especially in the case of weak exports, Lithuania's national tax revenue will inevitably face difficulties.
Second, under the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the general environment in Europe is not good, and this environment has an economic environment. Because the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is endless, the European economy as a whole is inward and does not extend externally, which is equivalent to every country tightening its belts to live, how can it take care of Lithuania. This is also the reason why European countries have chosen to visit China one after another despite the resistance of the United States, after all, compared with anti-China slogans and ideologies, economic development to fill the stomach is the most important.
Third, other European countries can normally carry out economic and trade exchanges with the mainland, but only Lithuania cannot, now the mainland's diplomatic relations with Lithuania have been reduced to the level of chargé d'affaires, and comprehensive economic sanctions are imposed on Lithuania, Lithuania naturally cannot rely on the mainland to solve the big crisis of national foreign debt.
Under such circumstances, Lithuania asked European and American countries for help, to put it bluntly, it was to borrow money, but the reply was similar, that is, politely refused. This can actually be known, because capitalism pays attention to the principle of self-interest, Lithuania is now very poor, and European and American countries are still afraid that Lithuania will be an old man, so naturally they do not want to help.
It was in this context that Lithuania thought of the mainland again. It is reported that Lithuania has decided internally that it "intends to lease their country's largest port, that is, the port of Klaipeda, to the mainland in exchange for a loan of 20 billion." "Apparently Lithuania has reached the point of exhaustion.
So should the mainland lend a loan to Lithuania? Lithuania should first reflect on its position on the Taiwan issue, there is a saying that "self-inflicted sins cannot be lived"!
