Moreover, because the range of underground caves and dragon ponds is generally relatively small, due to geographical barriers, once found, it is generally a new species, and the population is very rare. The typical cave organisms in Qiubei County include 6 species, including eagle-beaked golden-threaded catfish, frontal-convex blind golden-threaded catfish, and Wenliu two-whiskered loach; atypical cave fish include 14 species such as Qiubei golden-lined catfish and twisted golden-threaded catfish. There are more than 10 species of cave rare species such as cave creatures such as Malu, Curtain Worm, Chen's Cave Beetle, and Isopod Tidal Worm, which fills the history of no cave biological records in Wenshan Prefecture and is one of the areas with more karst cave organisms in China.
Qiubei County is also the model source of 10 species of fish such as eagle-beaked golden-threaded catfish, Yunnan five-pearl catfish, Wenliu two-whiskered loach, bow bass, and broad-footed sharp-eyed mussels, which is where it was first discovered and named.
In 2013, Qiubei County was the first in Wenshan Prefecture to establish the "Guanzhai River Endemic Fish National Aquatic Germplasm Resources Conservation Area", fish habitat and field protection, mainly protecting 6 fish such as eagle-beaked golden-seared catfish and Qiubei blind plateau loach, so that the gene bank of these rare fish can be preserved.
