Yu Junying was born in Tanxi Village, Nguyen Town. After graduating from the Department of Biology of Peking University in 1997, he entered the University of Pennsylvania to pursue a doctorate in biology. In 2003, after graduating, Dr. Yu Junying joined Thomson Laboratory as a research assistant under the famous biologist James Thomson, who successfully isolated human stem cells for the first time.
