Yesterday, Ubuntu officially released the latest 23.04 version, codenamed Lunar Lobster (Moon Palace Lobster), which is already available for download today.
The official name of an Ubuntu release is Ubuntu X.YY, where X represents the year (minus 2000) and YY represents the month of release.
Ubuntu does not have version 1.0 like other software because its first version was released in 2004, so Ubuntu's birthday is October 20.
Every two years, in April, a Long Term Support Release (LTS) is rolled out
For LTS versions (Long Term Suppot), the desktop version provides at least 3 years of technical support, and the server version provides at least 5 years of technical support
Non-LTS versions are typically supported for only half a year. For Desktop and Server versions, the update time is 6 months, and Ubuntu provides at least 18 months of technical support
