German midfielder Tony Kroos announced on social media that he would retire from the German national team. His number of appearances for Germanic chariots remained at 106.

The following is the full text of Kroos' farewell to the national team

After playing 106 times for Germany, I will not be playing in international competitions again. I enjoyed the trip and gave my all for it. If all goes well, that number will reach 109 and we will win the next big title – the European Championship.

Saying goodbye to the national team after this tournament was a long time ago decision. I have long realized that I will not be able to play in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The most important reason is that I hope to focus all my energy on playing for Real Madrid in the next few years. From now on, I will consciously take a break that I could not have achieved in my previous 11 years of international career. In addition to that, as a husband and father of three, I hope to do more.

It was a great privilege to be able to play in the German jersey for so many years, and I was full of pride and passion every time I played. Thank you to the fans who gave me applause and cheers, and thank you for all the criticism that gave me extra motivation.

As a summary, I would like to sincerely thank Coach Loew. It was he who made me an international, a world champion. It trusted me so much that together we wrote the chapter of victory.

Glory and happiness are a thing of the past, and I wish Frick good luck and success.

Your Tony.
