Mohamed Salah's performance at Liverpool often raises questions about whether Chelsea should keep the striker, but sometimes players need to change themselves to thrive.

Salah, who was depressed at Chelsea
There's little sign of seeing the Egyptian at Stamford Bridge one of the best players in the world by 2021, and his success in Merseyside comes from significant experience in Italy.
However, this brings us to some of the others who left at the same time as Salah. Chelsea were not affected by their departure, which followed Salah's departure and the arrival of the likes of Ngolo Kante and Marcos Alonso, who won the Premier League title in 2016-17.
But what happened to the other people who transferred and left that summer?
- 1. Giloboggi
After failing to reach Chelsea's first team, incoming Sunderland manager David Moyes gave Gillough Bogy a chance to play in the Premier League.
Unfortunately for the Senegal international, no one really came out of that rose-flavored competition, he left on loan the following summer and Sunderland was relegated for the second time – not his fault – and then he was released in 2018.
After playing for Guingamp in France for a while, after being relegated from Ligue 1 and playing just a few games, he came to Gaziantep in Turkey, where he remains today.
- 2. Perica
Croatian striker Perica has been part of the taxi army during his time in London, spending some time in the Netherlands and Italy but not playing a minute for the Blues.
He made a permanent transfer to Udinese in 2016 before leaving Serie A club for Watford in 2020, scoring a goal for the Hornets in the promotion play-offs last season.
The 26-year-old moved again this summer to join Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv and scored three goals in his first seven games.
- 3. Marco Marlin
Signed on the same day as Eden Hazard, but due to the presence of the Belgian, Marin was excluded from the first team and he did not come off the bench in the 2013 Europa League final, eventually leaving Chelsea with only one goal score.
In the years since, the Germany international has been playing against England's side, with Red Star Belgrade surprisingly beating Champions League group stage rivals Liverpool in 2018 and Tottenham Hotspur in 2019.
He travelled to Hungary in the 2021-22 season, joining Ferencvaros and making his first off-the-bench appearance in early October.
- 4. John Swift
Swift, a graduate of chelsea academy, made only one appearance for Chelsea – making his substitute appearance as Hazard at the end of the 2013-14 season and leaving Chelsea in 2016 after a good loan appearance at Brentford.
However, he did not join Brentford, the midfielder joined Reading, who was coached by Stam at the time, and remained at the Madsky Stadium at a time of constant manager changes.
While Swift has yet to score double-digit goals in a single season, he has scored seven goals in his first 11 games of the season, including in three draws with QPR 3-3, and he has a great chance of doing so this season (goal in doubles).
- 5. Reece Mitchell
Mitchell, another young talent at Chelsea Academy, left to join Chesterfield in 2016 but was relegated to second-form after his first season.
After leaving the team, he spent some time in the amateur league, mainly for clubs in and around London, before trying out for Belgian lower league side KVK Westhoek.
Mitchell left Belgium in the summer and, at the time of writing, had not yet found a new club.
- Other loan players
That summer, a number of other players left Chelsea on loan, and some of them completed permanent transfers shortly thereafter. In the summer of 2017, Juan Cuadrado was loaned to Juventus as a permanent transfer, Nathan Ake joined Bournemouth on loan, while Patrick Bamford was loaned to Burnley midway through the season and later joined Middlesbrough.
Although they did not follow the same route, after Salah chose to leave Stamford Bridge shortly after leaving, all three of them are now doing quite well in their respective teams. 【PLANET FOOTBALL】
