According to the statistics of Canalys and IDC, PC shipments fell between 29% and 32.6% in the first quarter of this year, and PC shipments of brands including Lenovo, HP, Dell, Apple, and Asus all fell between 24.1% and 45.5%.
Due to the different statistical methods of the two market research agencies, there are some differences in the data, but it can be roughly seen that the overall PC market demand has fallen sharply, mainly because the impact of the current epidemic has slowed down much more than in the past, and the demand for replacing PCs in the past has been significantly reduced during the epidemic, and in the near future, due to unclear changes in the market economy, inflation problems and other impacts, the demand for PC replacement has become lower.
The statistics show that Apple's Mac models have declined by more than 40.5%, which may be higher than the price of Mac models, and the usual use of Mac machine groups are mostly students, workers, unlike Windows PCs and many users who are upgraded because of game upgrades, so the overall replacement demand will not be too frequent.
Although overall PC shipments have fallen sharply, Canalys and IDC believe that the next PC market will improve, because some schools and companies are almost ready to replace old equipment, so PC shipments are expected to increase in the second half of the year.
However, the market research agency also reserves that the PC market may continue to decline, so it may also prompt PC brands to launch mid-range positioning models, or in product design more tend to focus on the update of existing models, while believing that a significant double-digit decline in the first quarter should not happen again.
