How to optimize the spatial layout of scientific and technological innovation and build a regional innovation community that integrates and collaborates?

At the 13th Standing Committee Meeting of the 12th CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee held from July 21 to 22, Yang Zhi, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial CPPCC Committee and chairman of the Wuhan Municipal CPPCC Committee, suggested that it is necessary to continuously enhance Wuhan's ability to innovate and source sources, accelerate the construction of a high-level national science and technology innovation center, and raise the "first" of Hubei's high-quality economic development; with the Optics Valley Science and Technology Innovation Corridor as the focus, lead the organic integration and integrated development of Wuhan's urban circle, and stand up the "ridge" of the rise of central Hubei; make the two provincial sub-central cities of Yichang and Xiangyang bigger and stronger, and accelerate the formation of an orderly division of labor. The "Xiangshi Suishen" urban agglomeration and the "Yijingjingen" urban agglomeration with complementary functions and efficient coordination have launched the "wings" of Hubei's economic take-off.

Yang Zhi, a member of the Standing Committee, put forward the following specific suggestions:

Enhance the ability to source sources, seize opportunities in the positioning of characteristic and differentiated development, increase investment in basic research, focus on forward-looking technology research in areas where our province has relative advantages, and form dislocation development and competitive cooperation with other advanced regions.

Make up for the shortcomings of hardware, build a cluster of large scientific devices, build a cutting-edge cross-cutting research center and a key common technology platform, implement a major scientific and technological project of the through-type, and achieve practical results in the construction of major scientific and technological infrastructure.

Pay attention to the joint efforts of multiple parties, seek development in gathering national strategic scientific and technological forces, promote the construction of East Lake Science City by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hubei Province and Wuhan City, promote the establishment of in-depth cooperative relations between Wuhan and first-class universities and institutes at home and abroad, and bring together top international innovative talents and teams.

Optimize the spatial layout, create a "Wuhan City Circle Collaborative Innovation Community", support Xiangyang, Yichang and other places to build regional innovation highlands, and promote coordination in building a regional innovation community.
