One depicts the light and shadow of the heart, and the other looks for the lost Noah's Ark. On March 20th, the "Ai Dong and Teng Fei Double Solo Exhibition" was reopened at the Yimei Art Museum. The exhibition is curated by Lu Bei, executive director of Yimei Art Museum, and Dr. Cheng Chen is the artistic director.
This is the first time since the establishment of Yimei Art Museum that the theme of "Women's Month" in March has invited two female artists to hold solo exhibitions at the same time. The double solo exhibition brings together the personal masterpieces of two contemporary female artists, Ai Dong and Teng Fei, embodying the artistic charm that is either thought-provoking or sincere and warm.
It is light, it is color, and it is music
Located on the first floor, "Flow with Light" presents a number of important series of works from Aidon's creative career, covering nearly 40 works in the form of oil paintings, watercolors, sculptures, installations and other forms.

Ai Dong graduated from Qufu Normal University majoring in music, has experience in literary creation, television choreography, and initiator of public welfare projects, and his rich life experience and cross-border diversified professional knowledge make him find the intertextuality and quotation between picture composition, melodic rhythm and color use. The exhibition contains Aidong's thoughts and practices on music, emotion, nature, time, space, and beauty.

"Light" is the main motif that runs through Aidon's creations. She once called light "apocalyptic" and "God-given inspiration." Aidun has always captured the traces of light with his innate intuition and sensitivity to color, and along with light and color, is the flow of all things.

In the early Sri Lanka series, Aidon treated the edges of the flat area neatly. In creating rotating cross installations and conical sculpture series such as Rehearsal and Pillar of Light, she began to try to capture the dynamics of light, so that the flow of color also metaphorically depicts the cutting, filling and fusion relationship between light and space.
In 2020, her "Four Seasons" and "Pastoral" series began to take a turn, influenced by Tchaikovsky's "Four Seasons" suite, Aidon produced intertextual and echoing artistic effects by depicting visual illusions of mixed colors and the theme of "flow of time" in the music.

The famous artist Sui Jianguo mentioned in his review of the exhibition "Ai Dong and Painting" that Ai Dong was born into a literary and artistic family and grew up with music. When she turned to visual arts, due to the lack of styling training, she could only leave a few simple color blocks on the picture at first.
But she felt the pleasure that painting brought her that she had never had before: only painting could spread bright colors on the canvas and become a game of pushing each other between colors. Obviously a patch of red, paved with green on the side, the two actually became dazzling at the same time; a gray cobalt blue and an orange next to each other, like someone ringing a copper gong in the ear; the surface of the surface of the calm velvet light of the ultramarine, once placed with rose red, it kept sinking deeper and deeper. ”
For Aidon, the process of arranging the picture is the process of implementing the feeling of light in detail. "She reveled in the music, she reveled in the paintings."
Retrieve Noah's Ark, even if it is scattered
On the second floor, is Noah's Ark still there? Presents the latest installations, photography, video and sculpture works of Teng Fei, professor, doctoral supervisor and academic leader of the jewelry major of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibits are characterized by "extravagance to simplicity", including the use of discarded courier boxes, idle and occasional items.
The exhibition focuses on Teng Fei's artistic practice and self-reflection under the state of emergency from 2020 to 2021, and shows her personal innovative thinking, definition and use of artistic creation materials.

Speaking of the exhibition, Teng Fei said that the title of the exhibition is "Is Noah's Ark Still There?" It follows an installation called Noah's Ark during her 1992 solo exhibition in Germany. It was a Noah's Ark that carried sorrow but poetry and beautiful visions for the future. In the human mind, Noah's Ark is a symbol of "hope" and "future".
"With the outbreak of COVID-19 in late 2019 and early 2020, it was as if we had experienced overnight a change from unlimited freedom to a secluded lifestyle. From the development of industrial civilization to information civilization, the decentralization of the digital age has brought autonomy and convenience at the same time, but also become more loose and fragmented. The world was shaking, and I felt more uneasy, disordered and drifting than ever before. He wanted to retrieve Noah's Ark, even though it was scattered. ”

In the various boxes and boxes at the exhibition site, there are some small objects, such as peace charms, dragonflies' eyes, pebbles, pine cones, artificial dried flowers, chips... Teng Fei wrote a memory text for each object, as if to commemorate the past years.
As Teng Fei's "group of relatives and friends", Zhu Qingsheng, a professor in the Department of History of Peking University, said: "Especially today, when the epidemic is raging, gentle and repeated, it is precisely when the moment of our mobile life is extremely in need of identification. The significance of Teng Fei's works is to face all this and inspire viewers to watch, recall and think. In viewing this exhibition, hesitation and courage are the psychological presuppositions and preparations we need. ”
