In his later years, he issued the classic Qian Xuesen question, why is there always no outstanding talent in this era, and can this era still produce masters? Qian Xuesen was born in Shanghai in 1911, was admitted to National Chiao Tung University at the age of 18, was admitted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the age of 24, and later transferred to the California Institute of Technology, and was called a tenured professor at MIT at the age of 35. But at this time he was an older single young man. At the age of 36, he met Jiang Ying, the younger sister of his childhood sweetheart, whose father was the famous military scientist Jiang Baili. Jiang Ying was sent to live in the Qian family for a period of time when she was 5 years old and became Qian Xuesen's godsister. Jiang Ying was later admitted to the Berlin University of Music in Germany, and won the World Soprano Competition at the age of 24.
In 1947, Jiang Ying held a solo concert in Shanghai, at this time Qian Xuesen had just returned from studying abroad and was attracted by Jiang Ying's sister's singing, he ran directly backstage and said to Jiang Ying, You follow me. Obviously, it is not fun to talk about love with such a science and engineering man. But Jiang Ying agreed to Qian Xuesen's pursuit and admired his talent. Six weeks later, they got married in Shanghai.
In August 1947, Zhu Jiahua, Minister of Education of the Republic of China, wanted to hire Qian Xuesen as the president of Jiaotong University, but Qian Xuesen refused, and the couple went to the United States for further study. After the founding of New China, Qian Xuesen and his wife planned to return to serve the motherland, but the US government seized all of Qian Xuesen's salutes and placed the couple under house arrest for up to 5 years. Fortunately, with Jiang Yin's company and the solace of music, Qian Xuesen was not defeated, there was no freedom, they played music at home, Qian Xuesen played bamboo flute, talked and played guitar, and the two had fun in pain. Until 1955, his wife Jiang Ying took the risk and sent a letter of help with cigarette paper, and sent it halfway around the world to Beijing. After many efforts, the Chinese government released 11 US pilots and prisoners of war in exchange for US approval of Qian Xuesen's return.
Later investigations confirmed that Qian Xuesen's luggage did not have any classified documents of American military science, and that it brought back his own brain, as well as a deeply humiliated heart that was desperately shamed. "My only hope," he said, is for my fellow citizens in my homeland to live a happy life with dignity. After returning to China, Qian Xuesen quickly established China's first rocket and missile research institute, and he participated in the development and launch of China's first short-range missile, the first medium-range missile nuclear weapon, the first artificial satellite, the first re-entry artificial satellite, and the first long-range launch vehicle. So later, every astronaut on the mainland who triumphed from space had to come to Qian Xuesen's home to report, because the name astronaut was given by Qian Xuesen.

Mr. Qian Xuesen wrote decades ago advocating the vigorous development of electric new energy vehicles, and he has paid attention to virtual reality technology in the last century, and named it a name with Chinese characteristics. His fables are now becoming a reality. In his later years, Qian Xuesen was full of honors and won numerous awards, and once at the award ceremony, Qian Xuesen also joked romantically, "Money belongs to you, Jiang belongs to me." Qian Xuesen apologized to his wife Jiang Yinsheng, if you hadn't married me, you would have become the best soprano singer in China. But his wife said that China can do without singers like Jiang Ying, but not without scientists like Qian Xuesen. On October 31, 2009, Mr. Qian Xuesen passed away at the age of 98.
