When visiting the temple, I often see a statue of a handsome face, a majestic figure, wearing a phoenix wing hood helmet, wearing dark clouds and soap shoes, holding a demonic vajra pestle, and a mighty and domineering statue of a martial general. He is the Bodhisattva Veda who blesses peace and protects the Dharma and the monks. The bodhisattva is now a general, a boy, protecting the three continents, and the dojo of the Bodhisattva Veda is in the Zenyuan Temple.
Located at the southern foot of West Tianmu Mountain in Lin'an City, Zhejiang Province, Chanyuan Temple is surrounded by peaks, lakes and flowers. The majestic Zenyuan Temple is hidden in the green mountains and green waters, like a heavenly palace, misty clouds, golden splendor, like a fairyland on earth, comfortable and peaceful, like a picture scroll.
The mountain gate of the temple is simple and simple, with yellow walls and dewa, only one door, and a plaque hanging from the Zenyuan Temple, which is too low-key and ordinary compared with the magnificent temple building. Seeing the yang lian on the door will make you shocked, it turns out that this is an ancestral temple, with a long history of promoting the Buddha's heart seal, and the high monks are doubled, which is really unseemly.
Entering the mountain gate, the first thing that catches your eye is a tall ancient tree, Luo Han Pine, which is said to have been planted by the monk Yulin during his ordination, and should still be full of life after disasters. Yulin Zen Master was the national teacher of the Shunzhi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty and the founder of Zenyuan Temple. There is a hand purification pool next to Luo Han Song, and you can wash your hands before burning incense and prostrating to show that you are clean and clean.
The main axis of Zenyuan Temple is: Tianwang Hall, Weituo Hall, Daxiong Treasure Hall and Dharma Hall, and there are auxiliary halls on both sides, with a rigorous layout and clear arrangement.
The Heavenly King Hall is the first hall on the main axis, with a single-eaves five-ridge hall, gray glazed tiles, golden yellow walls, and antique doors and windows, which looks very old.
The statue in the hall is very distinctive, and the Maitreya Buddha in the center is not a statue of a cloth bag monk, but a seated statue of the heavenly saying. The four heavenly kings around him are angry, holding magic weapons, stepping on demons and monsters, and there are many statues of heavenly soldiers and generals behind them, which is really unique, and the mighty spirit of the heavenly god who protects the law is dazzling, making people dare not be ape-like.
The Heavenly King's Hall is flanked by two-story pavilion buildings with cornices and angles, golden glazed tiles and dark red columns, showing a magnificent grandeur. On the left is the Guanyin Hall and Drum Tower, and on the right are the Jizo Hall and the Bell Tower. The Bodhisattva of Jizo is a sitting figure wearing a crown of five Buddhas and holding a tin staff.
The second hall on the central axis is the Veda Hall, which is a Buddha hall that is not available in any temple, and the center of the hall is dedicated to the sitting posture of the four-sided Veda Bodhisattva, and most of the temples in which the Veda Bodhisattva's Dharma is in a standing position, which is the home of the Veda Bodhisattva, so it is a different sitting posture.
It is said that the earliest Buddhist temple in Tianmu Mountain was built by the walking monk who incarnated as Wei Tao. The Bodhisattva Wei has appeared here many times to enlighten all beings: the peak Zen master fell off a cliff while practicing, and the Bodhisattva Veda twice protected the Dharma. Therefore, Zengen Temple is the ashram of the Bodhisattva Veda.
Around the temple, there are thousands of statues of Veda Bodhisattva, which is very spectacular. According to legend, after Veda Bodhisattva has supported the 999 Buddhas, he will become the last Buddha - Lou Zhi Buddha, which is also the thousandth Buddha, and it seems that the layout still has meaning. It is not easy to become a Buddha, and after going through all kinds of calamities, the mind has no place to dwell. The ephemeral appearance is also a poignant story of Wei Tuo, and it is also a love disaster that cannot be escaped.
There are also side halls on both sides of the Veda Hall, the Ancestral Master Hall on the right, and the God of Wealth on the left, which houses the five tantric gods of wealth: red wealth, green wealth, yellow wealth, white wealth and black wealth. May the God of Wealth protect all sentient beings with prosperity and well-being, and abundant wealth.
The third hall on the main axis is the Daxiong Treasure Hall, which is very magnificent, with a five-ridge hall with heavy eaves, surrounded by corridors, decorated with exquisite hanging and falling between the pillars, and the balustrade carved from white jade below. Under a heavy eaves hangs a plaque of "Daeunghoden".
On the lotus platform in the center of the hall is dedicated to the Dharma of Shakyamuni Buddha, sitting on his knees, knotting Buddha seals in his hands, and his eyes are lowered, overlooking the many sentient beings who worship. There are also many statues of Buddhas, bodhisattvas and arhats on both sides of the Buddha, as if a grand puja is being held.
Most monasteries have eighteen arhats or twenty-four heavenly dharma figures on both sides, but here there are five hundred arhats on both sides of the hall, which is really spectacular, and the arhats are dressed in robes and have different expressions, which is breathtaking.
Behind the main hall is the Hall of the Thousand Hands Kannon, which houses the special image of the Thousand Hands Kannon sitting on the lotus platform. The hands behind the statue feel really a thousand, so shocking, so that you can't help but bow down, grateful to the Bodhisattva Guanyin, who has a thousand hands and a thousand eyes, great compassion, great inspiration, and may all sentient beings let go of greed and delusion, and leave suffering and happiness as soon as possible. There are also many statues of the Protector Heavenly Gods next to the Bodhisattva Dharma, which is really gorgeous and solemn.
The last hall on the central axis is the sutra building, flanked by the Medicine Master's Hall and the Mida Hall. Next to the hall, there is also a seven-level floating pagoda with eight faces, golden glazed tile roof, solemn and magnificent, with many Buddhist stories painted on it.
The environment of the paradise of Zenyuan Temple, the Buddhism passed down from the origin, and the manifestations of the Dharma Protector Bodhisattva are very worthy of worship.
