Noboru Morimi was born in 1979 in Nara, Japan, and graduated from Kyoto University with a master's degree in agronomy. Most of the novel works are set in Kyoto, and mostly tell the life of a university otaku in a room the size of "four and a half stacks". He has been called "the most unorthodox genius".
Q: How is this one different from other works?
Noboru Morimi: "Spring Is Short, Let's Go Forward" is a very important work for me, and I hardly want to give it to anyone. But because of the team of the "Four And a Half Myths Series" (animated in 2010), this idea was abandoned. Hopefully, Director Yuasa can do whatever he wants. Although this work is very popular in the mainstream market, the content is not very "mainstream". I myself looked back and felt like a dream, "What is this?" It actually makes sense" This kind of." It's a lot of difficulty to make into a movie. And because it's my most popular work, readers are looking forward to it. Considering this burden on the producer, I still have some regrets in my heart.
Q: When you compare the original novel and the anime, do you feel the difference between the two?
Noboru Morimi: I'm probably the person who feels the most about this difference, and I'm often asked if the animation is the same as the original. My method of writing novels is relatively easy to present the sense of picture through words, and the relationship between animation and text is inseparable. "Spring Is Short, Girls Go Forward" script when it came to see it. The director's understanding and the picture he wants to present are completely integrated, and I basically don't say much about this aspect.
Q: Will the fans of the novel increase after the animation?
Noboru Morimi: "Shikaku Half Myth Series" is my early work, and the original sense of existence is very thin. Thanks to the blessing of animation, its popularity has also increased greatly, and it has sold a lot. "Top Heaven Family" attracts a lot of people who usually watch animation. The readers of my novels are basically young people. Although it will be surprisingly interesting to read, it is still difficult to like it without the opportunity to contact. After the animation, many people who did not read much novels also began to watch.
Although not deliberately, the characters and objects in my novels will appear in different works, and there are some connections. So other works have more or less increased their popularity. Although not intentionally, this commercial means is not bad. [Laughs]
