Born in Shanghai in 1924, Li Lihua was the only opera actor from the Liyuan family among the seven major singers in Shanghai at that time.

His father, Li Guifen, was a famous young student; his mother, Zhang Shaoquan, specialized in Lao Dan. Due to the early death of her father, at the behest of her mother, Li Li went to Beiping, an important peking opera town, to learn art, and worshipped Zhang Shuyun, one of the "Four Great Kundans", as a teacher. The trial and error in the old drama class has made her stage acting skills mature and grow rapidly.

Li Lihua stepped into the film circle and became a basic actor of Yihua Film Company, and has since stopped singing Peking Opera. Her film debut is "Three Laughs", and Yan Hua, who played Tang Bohu with her, is also a newcomer. Coincidentally, Guohua Film Company also filmed "Three Laughs", starring big-name actors Zhou Xuan and Bai Yun. What is even more dramatic is that the two films are completed at the same time, and they are performed in major theaters in Shanghai at the same time. To be fair, Guohua's version of "Three Laughs" is slightly better. But out of curiosity, both films should be seen. In this way, the two "Three Laughs" fields were full. Li Lihua became famous in one fell swoop, and at the same time, she also became popular with the newly debuted Xiaosheng Yanhua.

After that, Li Lihua starred in 16 films in succession and sang many interludes, including the interlude "Empty Valley Lament" in the film "Thousand Miles to send The Lady of Beijing" and "Heaven on Earth" in the film "New Traviata Girl", which are well-known to everyone, women and children.

After the contract with "Yihua" expired, Li Lihua switched to the "Huaying" company and filmed ten films such as "Wan Zi Qianhong", "Broken Intestine Wind Moon", "Snow Plum Wind Willow" and "Lingbo Fairy". Among them, her solo songs "West Lake Spring", "Falling Flowers Hate", "Wall Head Grass" and Yan Hua's duo "The Twists and Turns of Love", "Birds and Phoenixes", "Flower Gongs and Flower Drums", etc., were popular for a while. During the "Huaying" period, once at the shooting site of the Lilac Garden, Li Lihua and Zhang Xupu, the shao proprietor of Qingdao Zhangyu Brewing Company, met unexpectedly, and the two fell in love at first sight, and after the trek of love, they finally became family members.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Shanghai film industry carried out a major reshuffle and reorganization. At that time, the comedy film "Fake Phoenix" starring Li Lihua and Shi Hui caused a big storm. Because the film uses amusing and exaggerated techniques to ridicule and ridicule the barber, it has attracted a unanimous protest from all the barbers in Shanghai. After the producer apologized, the storm began to subside. Unexpectedly, after this trouble, when the film was released again, it was difficult to find a ticket.

After settling in Hong Kong, because Li Lihua was a Peking Opera actress and was good at shooting costume plays, many film companies also tailored a lot of costume plays for her, such as "Wangu Liufang", "Yang Guifei", "Wu Zetian", "Qin Xianglian", "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" and so on are her main works. The male protagonists who played her were Yan Jun, and later this person also became her second husband.

In 2017, Li Lihua, who has been in the film industry for 40 years and starred in more than 120 films, passed away. (Li Dingguo)
