Against Curaçao, Messi reached another major milestone in his career, scoring his 100th goal for his national team, becoming the third player in history to reach this milestone, and the first among South American players.

For Messi, March was a milestone month, with his 700th goal of his club, 1,000 goals of his career and 800th goal of his career.

Against Panama, Messi scored from a free-kick after 14 shots to seal the win for Argentina while scoring his 800th career goal. It was also the 99th goal of his national team career.

Afterwards, Messi participated in a series of tribute ceremonies, the Argentine Football Federation named the building under construction "Messi Building", and the South American Football Federation also made a statue of Messi holding the Hercules Cup, and presented him with a scepter symbolizing the leader of world players.

Before Messi, only Ronaldo and Ali Dai had scored 100 goals for the national team. Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has made 198 appearances, has scored 122 goals, while Ali Dey has scored 109 goals in 149 games.

Since the World Cup match against Australia, Messi has scored in the last six appearances for the national team. In his last 13 appearances, Messi has only failed to score against Poland, scoring a total of 19 goals in 13 games.

Of the 100 goals Messi has scored for the national team, 35 were scored during Scaloni's time in charge and in just 43 games, averaging 0.81 goals per game. Secondly, when Sabella was in charge, Messi scored 25 goals in 32 games, averaging 0.78 goals per game.
