During the operation, a foreign body fell into the right main bronchus, the tip was pierced into the tracheal wall, and the oropharyngeal mucosa had been scratched by a foreign body.
After 30 minutes, a 3 cm long pin was successfully removed, there was no perforation in the tracheal wall, and the child's vital signs were stable after the operation.
Xu Xuehai introduced that infants and young children swallowing such items as pins can easily cause damage to the airway mucosa and difficulty breathing, seriously threatening the health and safety of children. Endoscopic removal of tracheal foreign bodies seems simple, but in fact there is a huge risk, the upper wall of the trachea and the posterior wall of the trachea are closely related, adjacent to the ascending aorta, once the perforation consequences are unimaginable, anesthesia and endoscopist are required to cooperate closely.
Wang Jiachen, an otolaryngology, head and neck/maxillofacial surgeon at the hospital, reminded that if the child has difficulty breathing and cyanosis after swallowing a foreign body, the foreign body is likely to enter the respiratory tract, and it is recommended that parents immediately carry out the Heimlik method at home for first aid. If the child swallows hard bone spurs, pins, nails and other sharp objects, it is not recommended to induce vomiting after entering the digestive tract, and do not let the child eat any more food, so as not to hurt the esophagus and aggravate the condition, you should immediately take the child to seek the help of a professional doctor to remove the foreign body as soon as possible.
