Lachlan Bailey was born in Australia and grew up in the Melbourne suburbs, away from the fashion industry. As a child, according to Bailey, he couldn't even imagine that one day the most famous woman on the planet would appear in front of his lenses and his photography would appear on the covers of widely popular fashion magazines.

After studying cinematography in Melbourne, Bailey worked for some time in moving images. He then decided to change courses and enter the School of Photography. Taking the first steps towards a new career, in 2001 he moved to London, where he got a job as a photographer's assistant, where he has worked independently since 2004. He later moved to New York. Bailey prefers close-ups, simple backgrounds, and spacious locations. Filming is usually done on the beach or in the wild.
