And recently it has been enhanced twice in a row, and just when I was still curious about how it would be released, in yesterday's 1.20.1 release announcement, WG once again mentioned the "World of Tanks PLUS" thing, using the TS-54 as a "bonus rental car" to open the service... I couldn't find information about the TS-54 and couldn't see any historical prototypes of it. WG's statement is:

The project was considered overly ambitious, and the effectiveness and usefulness of such weapons and equipment was seriously questioned. This concept was eventually abandoned and no prototype was built.
The historical "TS" project is the product of the US Army and manufacturers "brainstorming", TS S stands for short, short means) tanks, such as the M series 8 Jintan J-TS-5 in the game is the No. 5 plan. As for this TS-54... Hard.
Those two red forks are barrel locking after a salvo
Judging by the current data, the TS-54 is still good in terms of firepower. Previously, it really paid everything for a two-barreled system, and now it may really have nothing to pick in terms of firepower except for a single shot damage of only 280, which is a bit of a loss compared to the same level of heavy tan. WG has gradually erased its disadvantages in repeated strengthening, and now it is no problem even if it has always been a single engine. The 2-second salvo preparation and the 2-second salvo lock time are also much friendlier than those other double-barreled tanks, it can be said that this guy has more salvo opportunities at the cost of low damage per shot, and a salvo of 560 damage is also quite good at level 8.
The turret is indeed iron, but has rangefinder and small hatch weaknesses
The TS-54 is indeed hard enough on the front of the turret, and the front of the super large block gun shield is 310 mm thick, which is even harder than the iron-tipped T32. The front of the turret except for the gun shield is also strong, but the problem is that its two rangefinder WG are made weak points, and they are only 150 mm thick, and there is also a very thin hatch on the top of the turret. The TS-54's hull defense is also interesting, this 101.6mm head angle is large, and the equivalence of front, swing angle, and riding slope depression angle is amazing. Although the side of the body is 63 mm on paper, WG adds a layer of 6 mm side skirt armor to it, plus the front part is 80 mm, so it is still quite difficult to sell the side at a small angle. It can be said that the TS-54 is indeed a relatively difficult 8 gold heavy tan to kill, but it will be easier to deal with weak points.

I personally think that WG may feel that the rental car WZ-113-II provided by World of Tanks PLUS is not attractive enough for players and difficult to control, so it changed the TS-54 car in the new version of PLUS. This guy also has a feature that is unique in WOT: "As long as the main discipline matches, regardless of the tank type, you can transfer any M-series crew member to the tank for free". If the previous TS-54 was a pure defense vehicle, then the current TS-54 really retains a certain combat effectiveness. However, old players may not find this car attractive, and if you want to drive this car, you need to drive a PLUS subscription service, and this subscription is not cheap for 56 yuan a month.
